Mark Waschke Life

Mark Waschke (born 10 March 1972) is a German theatre actor who has appeared in German films since 2005.

Early life and education

In Wattenscheid, a district of Bochum, Germany, Waschke was born the second of three sons. His father was a surgeon and his mother was a nurse. Waschke's father was accepted as head of surgery at a hospital in Sulzbach, Saarland, in 1980, and the family moved to Friedrichsthal. Waschke performed in the local children's theater and later a youth theater company.

He moved to Berlin in 1991. After completing his mandatory civil service, he began to study philosophy, which he later abandoned in order to concentrate on acting. He studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts from 1995 to 1999.

Personal life

Waschke and his wife, daughter, and son live in Berlin. He and 184 other German LGBTQ+ actors came out in February 2021, together with 184 other German LGBTQ+ actors. The step was part of a call for greater recognition and representation in the industry.

Mark Waschke Career

Career

Waschke performed regularly for the Berlin Schaubühne theatre company under Thomas Ostermeier, who has described him as "a good-looking, virile actor who takes full responsibility for his performance and display of emotion."

Waschke appeared in scenes including William Shakespeare's Macbeth and Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Schaubühne.

He appeared at the Deutsche Theater Berlin in Kasimir und Karoline, directed by Andreas Dresen), and in 2009 at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, directed by Jan Bosse.

Waschke has appeared in television series and films since 2005, including Buddenbrooks (2008), Habermann (2010), The City Below (2011), Summer Window (2011), and Generation War (2013).

He has appeared on television shows like Tatort since 2009, and in 2015, he played detective Robert Karow for a life time.

For the 2013/14 season, Waschke returned to the Schaubühne Theater. Acting on stage, he said, is not only because it is not interrupted while filming, but also because it does not involve oneself, the performance, and the grand ritual, which in the best does not do anything for the audience. In a rare moment, utopia takes center stage.

The actor became known to international audiences for his role as Noah in the Netflix-produced series Dark.
