FEMAIL lays bare the horrific tales from within a CULT on One Tree Hill's 20th anniversary

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 23, 2023
It's been 20 years since the teen stars of One Tree Hill first graced television screens. However, reports of sex crimes against some of its female actors, writers, and crew members suffered at the hands of showrunner Mark Schwahn have surfaced in those 20 years. Hilarie Burton, Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, James Lafferty, and Bethany Joy Lenz followed their young adult characters' lives through their four years as they shape their careers and their friendships change. Audrey Wauchope, a writer from One Tree Hill, took to Twitter in 2017 to accuse Schwahn, 51, of sexual harassment and emotional abuse. Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, and Bethany Joy Lenz, three of the show's female leads, joined Wauchope's allegations, as did fifteen other actors, female writers, and crew members, who spoke out about their personal experiences of being'manipulated physically and emotionally.' On top of all this, the cast members' personal lives have been similarly turbulent. Here are all the wild tales about One Tree Hill, from Benz's admission to being in a cult for ten years to Murray's roller coaster love story.

Chard Michael Murray, according to Hilarie Burton, stood up for her against Mark Schwahn

Hilarie Burton has recalled how Chad Michael Murray, her co-star, stood up for her after being allegedly attacked by disgraced One Tree Hill showrunner Mark Schwahn. Burton, a teen actress and singer, reacted on her podcast Drama Queens with former co-star Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz, who revealed that the alleged assault took place after they both traveled to Honey Grove, Texas, to notify a high school that they had won a competition to have One Tree Hill film on their campus. Burton, who has been outspoken about Schwahn's suspected physical abuse, has never named him on the show, but instead described him as their 'boss.'

Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton, both actresses of One Tree Hill, are 'threatened' for the Maxim gun

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 29, 2022
While appearing on the drama series One Tree Hill actresses Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton say they were preparing for a Maxim shooting. Bethany Joy Lenz, the co-star, was told not to attend Maxim with her colleagues because she was 'too fat.' On a recent episode of their re-watch podcast Drama Queens, the women outlined their allegations against their bosses. The three actresses joined a group of cast and crew members who received an open letter accusing One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn of sexual assault five years ago.
