Maree Cheatham (also known as Marie Cheatham, born June 2, 1942) is an American actress best known for her appearances on Days of Our Lives, Hunting for Tomorrow and General Hospital, as well as her appearance on the 2013-14 Nickelodeon comedy Sam & Cat.

She has also appeared in feature films, including Soul Man (1986), A Night at the Roxbury (1998)), Hanging Up (2000), Labor Pains (2009), and Letters to God (2010).

Personal life

She was once married to Bill Arvin, but it came to a divorce in 1974. She married singer and songwriter Robert Staron (aka Bobbo Staron) in 1998.

Life and career

Cheatham was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1958, she graduated from Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas. Marie Horton, the show's first female protagonist, was an original cast member of Days of Our Lives, in which she appeared as the show's first heroine. Horton went through several life before becoming a nun in a convent.

She left Days of Our Lives in 1973 and landed in New York, where she played Stephanie Wilkins, the sarcastic and vainsome lady on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow. Louise Shaffer, an actress and writer, was substituted on the soap opera in early 1984. Lucy Coe's eccentric and fun-loving Aunt Charlene Simpson joined GB as Lucy Coe's wacky and fun-loving Aunt Charlene Simpson in 1987. Cheatham was one of many cast members let go when Gloria Monty returned to work as a producer in 1991, but Cheatham reprised his role in 1998 with a brief appearance on the General Hospital spin-off Port Charles.

Mary Robeson, a blackmailer who became the perpetrator of a murder investigation, appeared on Knots Landing for two seasons.

On several occasions, Cheatham has reprised the role of Marie Horton, as a doctor and no longer a nun. She appeared on television and in 2010 and 2010 for remembrances of actors who died — MacDonald Carey and Frances Reid, respectively, who played Marie's father and mother. She appeared in one of Bo and Hope's remarriages.

In 2002, Cheatham appeared as Mona on the soap opera Passions.
