Marcelo Tinelli Life

Marcelo Hugo Tinelli (born 1 April 1960, San Carlos de Bolívar) is an Argentine TV host, media producer and businessman, best known as the host of the TV show ShowMatch broadcast on Argentina's El Trece.

He is one of the most iconic figures in Argentina's television.

Tinelli is one of the most famous supporters of the San Lorenzo de Almagro football club of all time.

He is the current President of the Boedo's side. Tinelli was working on Radio Rivadavia as football sportscaster before Juan Alberto Badía brought him to TV to Badía y Compañía.

In 1990, after several years as sports commentator, he created the light-content Videomatch, based on sport results, easy jokes, hidden cameras and bloopers. Afterwards, he hosted the variety-musical show Ritmo de la Noche which featured live performances of international acts including Bon Jovi, Poison, Duran Duran and former Queen member Brian May.

Around 1996 the program left the lightest contents and included musical shows and guests.

In 1999 he received the Golden Martín Fierro Award for Videomatch.

The show still airs, as Showmatch.

He created the TV production company Ideas del Sur (Ideas from the South), which has produced many TV shows including Okupas, Buenos Vecinos, Tumberos, Fugitivos and Los Roldán.

He also bought Radio Uno FM station, and the Spanish Segunda División football club CD Badajoz.

In 2002, he helped found the volleyball team Club Ciudad de Bolívar, based in his native San Carlos de Bolívar.

The team came to be the most successful of the Argentine league.

Marcelo Tinelli Career

Career

Tinelli was on Radio Rivadavia as a football analyst before Juan Alberto Bada escorted him to television in Bada y Compaa in 1983. In 1990, after many years as a sports commentator, he created the light-content Videomatch, based on sport results, easy jokes, hidden cameras, and bloopers.

He hosted Ritmo de la Noche, a live concert series starring international artists including Bon Jovi, Poison, Duran Duran, and former Queen member Brian May. Around 1996, the program had the most popular contents, as well as musical performances and guests. He received the Golden Martro Award for Videomatch in 1999. Showmatch is also on offer.

He founded Ideas del Sur (Ideas from the South), which has produced numerous TV shows, including Okupas, Buenos Vecinos, Tumberos, Fugitivos, and Los Roldán. He also bought Radio Uno FM radio and CD Badajoz, the Spanish Segunda División football club.

In 2002, he was instrumental in the formation of Club Ciudad de Bolvar, based in San Carlos de Bolvar, Spain. The team has been one of the Argentine league's most popular teams.

On the Argentine network Telefe, he became known as the host of Videomatch. The variety show featured sketches, musical artists, lectures, and even introduced bloopers to the Argentine audience.

When Tinelli announced plans to migrate to Canal 9, the third highest rated network, he sparked controversy in 2005. By giving Canal 9 the country's highest-rated program, he's increased the average audience.

Tinelli made the switch to El Trece, Telefe's most powerful competitor, in 2006. Tinelli has been with El Trece since 2001 and also produces television dramas with his own production company, Ideas del Sur. Since Telefe owned the Videomatch name, the show name changed from Videomatch to Showmatch. Showmatch is also the name of a short-lived version of Videomatch that aired in Spain.

Many segments of shows with stage acts such as dancing or singing were included in ShowMatch's program. Gran Cuado (Big Brother-in-Law) was a segment that ran in 2009, triggering a lot of buzz in the Argentine political world.
