Early life
Manan is the nephew of former Indian hockey player Y.P Singh, who is now the general secretary of Chandigarh Hockey Association. Manan's grandfather is his inspiration. Manan had to choose either the cricket bat or a hockey stick since he was the grandson of a former India hockey player. He selected the former. Manan decided to play cricket because of his grandfather's insistence. Manan used to teach at his Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh. He has also worked at Hansraj Public School, Satluj Public School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh. In 2004, Manan made it to the India U13 squad for the Sharjah Cup. Sachin Tendulkar is a fan. Harminder Singh, Manan's junior coach, was a mentor. However, now he is being taught by Yograj Singh, who is the father of Yuvraj Singh.
Career
He has been a member of the Punjab U16, U19, and U22 groups. He has also competed in the Dhruve Pandove Trophy. He was made the captain of the Punjab U19 team. He led his team in winning the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Manan led the Chandigarh challenge in the U22 tournament by single-handedly, scoring knocks of 108, 129, and 179. He was drafted in the Punjab Ranji camp in 2008. He was chosen for the U-19 NCA camp in Bangalore, which was held in 2011. Manan is one of India's top U19 players, with Manan being one of them. He was also included in the India U19 team that competed in the Quadrangular Series, which was held in Vishakhapatnam. The other three teams were from Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Australia. Against Australia U19, Manan had 79 out of 35 balls, including 15 fours and two sixes. In the Ranji Trophy 2011–12 season, Manan was replaced by Punjab wicketkeeper Gitansh Khera although he didn't have enough opportunities. In the 2013-14 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he made his List A debut on February 27, 2014 for Punjab.
