During his first stint with the Delhi U-19 team, Unmukt Chand scored 499 runs. The 499 runs span 2 centuries and 1 half-century. He was given a spot in Delhi's senior team after his outstanding work in the U-19s. In the 2010-11 Ranji Trophy, he scored 151 runs on a seaming track against a veteran Railways attack. He has also scored two half-centuries against Mumbai and Saurashtra during the year. In five games, he scored 400 runs. At the junior level, he competed in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and the Cooch Behar Trophy.

Unmukt Chand was appointed captain of the Delhi U-19 squad and the North Zone U-19 team. He went on to be the captain of the India Under-19 cricket team for the quadrangular series held in Vishakhapatnam, India. The U-19 teams from India, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, and Australia were among the participants in the quadrangular series. He scored an unbeaten 122 against Sri Lanka and two fifties against Australia and the West Indies. He finished the tournament with 336 runs from seven outings, just one behind Australia's Cameron Bancroft. He also competed in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy later this season. India also won the U-19 World Cup in Australia under his captaincy.

The hosts, England, and New Zealand all participated in a quadrangular series in Australia in April 2012. Chand was batting at three runs against England in the semi-finals and helped India beat the game by 63 runs. In the final, he ended it with a stunning 7-wicket victory against Australia, which featured 9 fours and 6 sixes. India beat Chand's captaincy, who left with 281 runs from 5 games but fell short of the tournament's top run-getter Daniel Bell-Drummond.

Chand reached the occasion once more in June 2012 when competing in the ACC Under-19s Asia Cup, defeating Sri Lanka 116 to 116 against Pakistan in the semi-finals before scoring 121 against Pakistan in the final. In both games, he received the Man of the Match award. With 286 runs from three matches, he was the highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Chand led India's Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Australia on August 26, 2012. In the final, William Bosisto's half-century had rescued Australia from 38 for 4 to a score of 225, but Chand's 130-run stand with Smit Patel ensured India won with more than two overs to spare, with Chand scoring a captain's knock of 111* in 130 runs, which included 6 sixes and 7 fours.

Chand scored 116 for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final against Assam on March 3, 2013 to show his knack for scoring big hundreds in tournament finals. Delhi won the game by 95 runs and the title for the first time.

In the semi-finals, Delhi was shocked by Odisha, where he failed to score.
