The course, which was written by CRT advocate and law scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw, was focusing on discrimination from an intersectional viewpoint. It also focused on looking at speeches by Malcolm X and the Black Panther Party's agendas. This is the latest attempt by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' conservative administration to criticize and even ban some educational activities. Florida is one of many states that have barred public schools from teaching Critical Race Theory (CRT). Despite dropping the African American history course, Florida now offers AP courses in European, Japanese, German, Italian, and Spanish history.
