Lynn Hamilton Life

Lynn Hamilton (born April 25, 1930) is an American actress.

Hamilton made her acting debut in 1959 in John Cassavetes' Shadows; Fred's mother and later fiancée on the sitcom Sanford and Son, which premiered from 1972 to 1977.

Early years

When she was twelve years old, Hamilton went from Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Nancy and Louis Hamilton and then to Chicago Heights, Illinois. She attended Bloom High School. She trained at the Goodman Theatre in acting.

Personal life

Hamilton was married to poet and playwright Frank Jenkins for 49 years from November 1964 to his death in August 2014. LaWanda Page, a Hamilton co-star, had a younger sister named "Lynn Hamilton" while playing "Sanford and Son." There was a rumor that the two actresses were sisters, which led to the false assumption that they were sisters. In 2016, series lead Demond Wilson confirmed that the rumors had been inaccurate.

Lynn Hamilton Career

Career

Hamilton began her career in Chicago and debuted on Broadway in 1959 as the first woman to perform in America. She appeared in three other Broadway shows, several Off-Broadway performances, and three years with the New York Shakespeare Festival.

Hamilton played Fred Sanford's girlfriend and later fiancée Donna Harris on the television sitcom Sanford and Son from 1972 to 1977, following a credited one-time appearance in the seventh episode of the series as a landlady. Donna was a nurse and Fred was occasionally cared for by. Hamilton was not asked to return nor was her story written out of the series when the show was revived in 1980 under a reworked name Sanford (TV series). Several internet accounts indicate that she was the younger sister of actress LaWanda Page, who played Esther Anderson on Sanford and Son, who was known only via LaWanda Page's obituary in the Los Angeles Times. Nevertheless, they are neither related nor sisters, though they are close, but they are good friends. Hamilton, Sanford and Son, played Verdie Grant Foster on The Waltons, Dangerous Women, Generations, Port Charles, Gunsmoke (guest starring 'Mother Tabitha) and Roots: The Next Generations (S15E14). In an episode titled "Sunday: Doomsday" on February 4, 1973, Hamilton appeared on the show Barnaby Jones, playing a woman named Laura Padget. Hamilton also served on The Practice as Judge Fulton.
