Lupe Pintor Career

Early life & career

Lupe Pintor was born in 1955 in Cuajimalpa, just outside Mexico City, and is accused of having a very unhealthy relationship with his father, which led to his exacerbation, leading to his departure. He spent time on the streets of Chicago, learning how to look after himself, and starting boxing professionally in 1974.

Manuel Vázquez was stunned in the second round and stepped up to ten round matches, with a decision over Francisco Nunez as his next outing. He lost his first three fights against Magarito Lozano three years later, but he won in his next eight bouts, seven by knockout, including victories over Juan D'az, Rocky Mijares, and Willie Jespen.

Alberto Davila, the first boxed future World Bantamweight champion, lost a decision over ten rounds and starting a winning streak of twenty-two fights in a row. Gerald Hayes - who later defeated Juan Laporte - and Antonio Becerra, the only one to defeat Salvador Sánchez as a professional boxer, were among the fighters he defeated during this period.

He then travelled to Puerto Rico, where he lost in a ten-round match to Leo Cruz, himself a future world champion. Pintor's second time in a row after returning to Mexico, mournfully dropping a decision to journeyman Jose Luis Soto. Another winning streak, involving five fights in a row, was snapped out by way of knockout, and he was set to face the world champion.
