Liu Tao (Chinese: 刘涛, born 12 July 1978) is a Chinese actress from Nanchang, Jiangxi.

She is known for her roles in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (2003), Madame White Snake (2006), Mazu (2012), To Elderly With Love (2013), Nirvana in Fire (2015), Legend of Mi Yue (2015), Ode to Joy (2016), The Advisors Alliance (2017) and Poetry of the Song Dynasty (2019). Lin ranked 51st on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list in 2014, 67th in 2015, 6th in 2017, and 37th in 2019.

Career

Liu joined the industry in 2000 as she appeared in the family sitcom Daughter-in-Law.

Liu was cast in My Fair Princess III in 2003, portraying Musha. Liu came to fame in China as a result of the series. Her A'zhu appearance in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (2003) earned her a household name.

Liu appeared in Madame White Snake in 2006 and attracted notice for her portrayal of the titular heroine.

Liu appeared in Da Li Princess (2009), where Ruby Lin co-starring Ruby Lin played her first antagonist role. She appeared in Mazu's television series of the same name in 2012. During its run, the drama received the Outstanding Television Series award at the China TV Golden Eagle Award and Flying Apsaras Awards.

Liu's subsequent appearance in the critically acclaimed melodrama To Elderly With Love (2013) earned her the Best Actress award at the China Television Golden Eagle Arts Festival and the Best Performing Arts Award. She appeared in Good Wife as a mother and housewife who faces the challenges of family life in the same year.
