Lisa Kelly Career

Prior to her appointment as an Ice Road Trucker, Kelly worked as a school bus driver and motocross rider. She also worked at gas stations, and a pizza company and was a state freestyle motocross champion. After these ventures, she decided to settle on a long term-career and trained as a trucker because it 'looked interesting'. She subsequently got a job driving for Carlile Transportation, an Alaskan haulage company. Being a woman, Kelly says this was a difficult achievement. "I had to work twice as hard. I had to pull my weight and everybody else's and get the job done as fast, or faster."

Devon Road where more than half of residents are ill as South West Water contaminated pipes crisis continues for 40,000 homes

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 17, 2024
This is the street where more than half of residents fell ill after drinking tap water infected with a waterborne parasite. Families living on Raddicombe Close - a smart cul-de-sac of 21 homes less than half a mile from the Hillhead underground reservoir in Brixham, South Devon - say the majority of the street has been struck down. Despite several residents complaining to South West Water almost two weeks ago that their tap water had developed an unpleasant taste and was causing sickness, stomach pain and diarrhoea they were repeatedly told it was safe to drink. Totnes MP Anthony Mangnall last night announced the source of the outbreak was a damaged air valve which 'may have allowed animal waste or contaminated groundwater to enter the local supply'.

No end in sight for 40,000 homes hit by dirty water crisis: South West Water refuses to reveal when residents will have to stop boiling their water amid fears infected underground reservoir may have to be completely emptied to stop spread of parasite

South West Water has refused to reveal when residents will have to stop boiling their water following an outbreak of cryptosporidium that has shut down parts of Devon. Laura Flowerdew, the company's chief customer officer, has said that in all likelihood the water had been contaminated by a broken air valve which had been contaminated by animal faeces.

Revealed: Reservoir 'at heart of' Devon crisis that's left 40,000 homes with undrinkable water - as MP claims 'animal waste' may have got into damaged air valve as residents join mile-long queues for bottled drinks

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 16, 2024
Residents living close to the Hillhead Reservoir near Brixham, South Devon, have been warned by South West Water workers they will have to be switched onto alternative sources of water. Meanwhile, MP Anthony Mangnall has claimed 'animal waste' may have got into a damaged air valve, causing contaminated ground water to enter the local supply. This afternoon, around a dozen vans from South West Water were lined up outside a pumping station where the outbreak is believed to have been detected earlier this week. One local, James Martins, said: 'We have been ill for weeks with vomiting, diarrhoea and headaches. We are still feeling bad on an off.
