Leon Schuster Life

Leon Ernest "Schuks" Schuster (born May 1951) is a South African filmmaker, comedian, actor, host, and singer.

Early life

At an early age, Schuster was attracted to the filmmaking process from the start. As a child, he and his brother would make practical jokes about his family and film it. “I remember running down the aisle of the Ritz Theatre, playing cowboys & crooks,” he described in a 2010 interview about his early life in Bloemfontein. I also remember loving Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, and the Three Stooges. I was always behaving and pulling pranks. I used to deceive my grandma by firing myself with my pellet gun... tomato sauce everywhere, me squealing like a wild pig. Pranking is just in my personality, but I'd never imagined I'd be a movie star. No, I'm not a movie actor; I'm just a local outjie who likes to entertain people.

Schuster obtained a Bachelor's degree at the University of Orange Free State, where he competed for rugby for the first team. For two years, Jim Fouché served as a teacher in Jim Fouché.

Leon Schuster Career

Career

Schuster started working for the South African Broadcasting Corporation. During his time at the SABC, he created the Afrikaans radio series Vrypostige Mikrofoon with Fanus Rautenbach, which involved destroying his voice and playing phone pranks on unsuspecting victims.

Schuster was hired by Decibel Records in 1982 to compile a collection of sports songs, which culminated in his first album, Leon Schuster, selling 10,000 units. Broekskeur, his second album ('trouser tearing'), has sold more than 40,000 units. Briekdans and Leon Schuster were then followed by 20 Treffers, who sold more than 270,000 copies.

His hit CD 'Here Come The Boks') received an FNB Sama Music Award for the Best Selling CD of 1995. Gatvol in Paradise, his latest CD, sold in over 125,000 units and spawned the word "Gautengeleng," the unofficial Gauteng anthem.

Hey Bokke!

In 2019, a revival of the 1960s hit Hey Baby in the hopes that lightning would strike twice. South Africa has won the World Cup. Don Clarke, a prolific South African songwriter, co-wrote the lyrics.

You Must Be Joking!, Schuster's first film, produced in collaboration with Johan Scholtz and Elmo de Witt, became extremely popular with South African audiences and led to the sequel You Must be King! I'm sure there's more.

These films were candid camera sketches, and Schuster produced many more of these films as well as slap-stick films, including Mr Bones, his most popular film, which earned more than R33 million at the South African box office.

The Walt Disney Company, which would also handle the production and marketing of Schuster's next film, Mad Buddies, was announced on September 16, 2011. In 2012, the film was released and starred Schuster opposite funnyman Kenneth Nkosi. It received poor feedback and raised R4.5 million in the first weekend from a budget of R20 million.
