Lendl Mark Platter Simmons (born 25 January 1985) is a Trinidadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies internationally.
He is a right-handed batsman, an occasional right-arm medium pace bowler, and a part-time wicketkeeper.

Early career
He appeared in both the 2002 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand and the 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh for the West Indies U-19s, making him a well-known junior cricketer. He made his ODI debut against Pakistan at Faisalabad on December 7, 2006, two years later.
Simmons has produced high scores, including three first-class double-centuries to his name, but he has also been subjected to inconsistency. In a first-class match for West Indies A against a touring England XI in January 2009, heralded his Test debut in the final Test of the tour. Simmons scored 24 and 8 as the West Indies secured a series-clinching draw at the Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad. Simmons was retained for the following West Indian tour of England, but he hasn't appeared in any further Tests.
T20 franchise career
Simmons had been signed by the Indian Premier League's Mumbai Indians in April 2014, replacing Jalaj Saxena. This was aimed at strengthening the team's fortunes after they had gone without a win in any of their 4 games prior to his signing. Simmons scored his maiden IPL century on May 22, 2014, leading his team to a 7-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab.
Simmons was in the United States between games for Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League in August 2014 when his bat drew the attention of US customs authorities, who allegedly believed that it was being used to smuggle illegal drugs. As a result, they cut several holes into the bat.
Simmons was selected by Mumbai Indians for the 2014 IPL and 2015 IPL seasons. During the 2015 season, he started the batting with Indian Parthiv Patel, where the two became the most unpredictable opening pair of the IPL 8 with an average of over 50. Simmons was instrumental in the team's victory over Mumbai Indians in the IPL 8 competition. It was their second title in IPL. Simmons was ruled out for more than half of the 2017 season, but after the departure of Jos Buttler for international service, he was able to open. Mumbai won the 2017 season, as well as their 3rd victory.

International career
Simmons made his Test debut against England on March 6, 2009, and on December 6, 2006, he made his ODI debut against Pakistan. He has two ODI centuries on record. Simmons has struggled in Test cricket, losing by 49 runs against Pakistan despite being an expert at ODI and T20I. At Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, he scored 122 against Bangladesh, his second century in ODI. In 2015, Australia defeated Ireland in Nelson, New Zealand, in his second century. In fact, Ireland defeated the West Indies by winning the match by 4 wickets.
He was named in the West Indies squad for the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan in March 2017. Simmons was selected in the West Indies' squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in September 2021.
