Lee Tamahori Life

Lee Tamahori (born 17 June 1950) is a New Zealand filmmaker best known for directing the 1994 film When Were Warriors, a James Bond film That Was Our Life.

Personal life

Tamahori has been married twice and has two sons, one from each marriage.

Tamahori was arrested on Santa Monica Boulevard in January 2006 after wearing a woman's costume and pledging to perform a sex act in exchange for money. In February 2006, he pleaded no contest in a Los Angeles court to a charge of criminal trespass in exchange for prosecutors dropping charges of prostitution and loitering in exchange. He was put on 36 months of probation and was ordered to complete 15 days of community service.

Upbringing and early career

Tamahori was born in Wellington, New Zealand. On his father's side and on his mother's, he is of Mori origins, and on the British on his mother's.

Tamahori grew up in Tawa, a northern suburb of Wellington, New Zealand, where New Zealand's North Island, Tamahori, is located. He began his work as a commercial artist and photographer after attending Tawa School and Tawa College. In the late 1970s, he broke into film, first getting in the door by doing nothing, then working as a boom operator for Television New Zealand, and later on the feature films Skin Deep, Goodbye Pork Pie, and Bad Blood.

Mr Lawrence, a hot Friday and Merry Christmas, Mr. Murphy in the early 1980s, Pork Pie founder Geoff Murphy promoted Tamahori to become an assistant director on Utu, and he later served as the first assistant director on Murphy's The Silent One, Murphy's The Quiet Earth, Came a Hot Friday and Merry Christmas. Tamahori co-founded Flying Fish, a commercial-based production company. Tamahori made his name with a string of high-profile television advertisements, one of which was named 'Commercial of the Decade'.
