Life and career

Lane was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and raised in Arlington, Texas. She attended Lamar High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. Lane obtained a Master's degree in the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco's advanced training program. She briefly worked at Carnegie Mellon University in 2013. Lane is a faculty member of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Lane married businessman David Wilkins and they had one child, Kate Wilkins, together.

Lane began her acting career in 1984's film Interface. Before being cast as C.C., she went on to appear in television and film productions like Positive I.D., Nervous Ticks, Hunter, and L.A. law. In 1993, Babcock appeared in The Nanny. Lane appeared in The Nanny until the show came to an end in 1999. She appeared on The Daily Show in August 1997 when she was still on The Nanny.

In the 2000 film Gen13, Lane portrayed Ivana Baiul. In December 2004, she appeared alongside the majority of the cast of The Nanny for the Lifetime one-hour special, The Nanny Reunion: A Nosh to Remember.

Lane has appeared in numerous productions at the Zachary Scott Theatre in Austin, Texas, since 2000. In 2010, she was a guest on The Fran Drescher Exhibition.
