Kofi Adu (born May 25, 1969), a.k.a. Agya Koo is a Ghanai actor and comedian.

He has appeared in over 200 Ghanai films, including Obaatanpa, Away Bus, Black Star, and Ma Trick Wo. Adu was born in Ghana's Ashanti region but he lived in Asantewaa, a suburb.

He worked as a shoemaker.

Adu appeared on a Ghanai comedy show on GTV (Ghana National Television) at the National Theater in Accra, where he appeared as a comedian warming up the audience. In July 2008, he was given a National Award by then-Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Agya Koo was first transported to Accra to perform, but he has appeared in over 90 Ghanai films, 15 of which are his favorites.

Personal life

Adu married Rita Asiedu in London, United Kingdom, in June 2016, after being in relationship for four years. He had been married to Victoria Owusu Adomako before divorce, but later divorced.

Career

Adu hails from Ghana's Ashanti region but lived in Asantewaa, Accra Newtown. He worked as a cobbler. Adu was discovered on a Ghanai comedy show on GTV (Ghana National Television) in Accra, Ghana, where he appeared as a comedian warming up the audience before the main drama was staged.

He was awarded a National Award by then-Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor in July 2008. Agya Koo has appeared in many Ghanaian films, 15 of which are his favorite.

He told Joy FM's former morning show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah that while actors and actresses are typically given scripts two weeks before they begin shooting, his God-given talent allows him to improvise without a script.
