After being renewed for season 21, Grey's Anatomy is expected to return to primetime television on ABC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hit medical drama, which first appeared nearly 20 years ago in 2005, is now under the care of showrunner Meg Marinis, who took on the lead role in the show's new 20th season. Marinis appeared in Grey's Anatomy's third season as a writer's production assistant and then moved up over the years.

Variety announced on Friday that Grey's Anatomy had been revived for a twentieth season at ABC. The series, which will soon say goodbye to Dr. Maggie Pierce, has been the longest running primetime medical drama in television history during its run.
