The USMNT defeated Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 in Austin, Texas, in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals, with a tumultuous 90 minutes from the United States fusing with a flurry of goals at the right time. The Americans were unable to crack Trinidad's low block, which stifled any offensive hopes alive. Gregg Berhalter said that his team had to respect their opponents, he trotted out a team that had never been used by them before, played Kevin Paredes in his first appearance, and then put Malik Tillman on the wing in the absence of other wingers.

Kevin Paredes displayed his advancing capabilities by scoring his first goal in the German Budesliga for Wolfsburg on Saturday. In what was a good finish, the left-back received a clearance from a corner with a low left-footed strike that went through a packed penalty area and into the far corner. Unfortunately, his 90th minute attempt was in vain as his team lost to a narrow 2-1 loss to Werder Bremen.
