Kannadasan pronunciation (24 June 1927-to-date) was an Indian philosopher, poet, film editor, editor, and philanthropist, who is regarded as one of India's most influential lyricists.
Kannadasan was most well-known for his song lyrics in Tamil films and wrote over 5000 film lyrics outside of his 6000 poems and 232 books, including novels, epics, plays, and essays, his most well-known being the 10-part religious essay on Hinduism, Artthamulla Indhumatham.
In 1989 for the film Kuzhanthaikkaga, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Cheraman Kadali, becoming the first to receive the National Film Award for Best Lyrics.
Personal life
Kannadasan was born in Sirukudalpatti, Tamil Nadu, India, to Sathappan Chettiar and Visalakshi Aachi in a Nattukottai Nagarathar family in 1927. Muthiah was born to Kathappan Chettiar and Visalakshi Aachi, who was born in 1927. He was the eighth child to his parents and had ten siblings. At an early age, Chigappi Aachi rescued him at a price of INR 7000, who was responsible for his early stages of school education. In Sirukudalpatti and Amaravathipudhur, he completed his education to the 8th standard. He worked for a private company in Tiruvottiyur before taking up an editorial role in a Tamil Magazine, where for the first time he took up the pseudonym Kannadasan. He died on October 17, 1981, the first time he lived.
Muthiaah was a keen follower of the Dravidian atheist movement. He had a passion for Tamil language and its people, and he excelled in Tamil literature, both prose and poetry. He read the Thiruppaavai of Aandaal and was astonished by its mystic poetry, which had a long-lasting impression on him. After a lot of reflection, he decided to return to Hinduism. He renamed himself Kannadaasan, referring to Lord Krishna's servant. (In Tamil, Kannan means Krishna, and in Sanskrit, daas means servant.'
