Career
Kalimba was born in Mexico City to Afro-Cuban parents. Both He and his sister M'balia were given traditional African names. His parents, especially his father, were involved in music and theater.
Kalimba began his career at the age of three. M'balia Marichal, his brother, and he began to perform in theatres and on television. Kalimba appeared on programs such as Chiquilladas and Chispas de chocolate (in which he praised his sister and father). He appeared in the telenovela Carrusel de las Américas at the same time.
Kalimba formed La Onda Vaselina in 1993 as part of the Mexican pop group OV7, who appeared on the Mexican pop band La Banda Rock. After leaving the company in 1996, he returned to acting in films including Disney's The Lion King, in which he appeared as Simba for the song I Can't Wait to Be King (Yo Quisiera Ya Ser Rey), and James and the Giant Peach. In the Latin Spanish dub of Akira, he appeared as Takashi, as well as the eponymous character in Chicken Little. Kit Cloudkicker's voice in TaleSpin, Arnold's voice in Hey Arnold, and Lucky in 101 Dalmatians: The Collection and the telenovela "Carrusel de las Américas" are among other works on display.
