Junior Firpo Career

Club career

Junior, born in Santo Domingo, moved to Benalmádena, Andalusia, at the age of six, and joined Real Betis' youth programme in June 2014, aged 18, from Puerto Malague. On February 15, 2015, he made his senior debut with the reserves, beginning in a 1–1 home draw against Granada B in the Segunda División B.

Junior was definitelly promoted to the B-side ahead of the 2015–16 season, but it culminated in relegation. He scored his first senior goal in a 4–0 away victory over Algeciras on Saturday, netting the third goal.

Junior resigned on August 1, 2017, after spending the entire pre-season with the main squad, until 2021. He made his debut in La Liga, the Dominican Republic's first player to play in La Liga, beginning in a 1–0 away loss to Deportivo La Corua.

In a 3–0 home win over Espanyol, Junior scored his first career goal on March 17, 2018, netting the first. After being promoted to the main squad in August, he agreed to a contract extension until 2023.

Junior signed a five-year contract with Barcelona for €18 million more in add-ons on August 4th. He made his home win over Betis five weeks earlier in a 5–2 victory, and he took the last nine minutes in place of Rafinha. Junior scored his first goal for Barcelona and his second goal over Getafe in a 2–0 victory on September 28th. He made his UEFA Champions League debut on Saturday in a 3–1 group stage victory over Borussia Dortmund.

In a 5–1 home victory over Alavés on February 13, 2021, Firpo scored his second (and last) goal for Barça.

Firpo agreed to a four-year contract with Leeds United in the Premier League, for a fee of €15 million more add-ons, with Barcelona reserving rights to 20% of his future sales until July 2021. Since Alioski's deal came to an end, he was expected to replace Ezgjan Alioski in the left back role and made his club debut in the second half of the season opener at Old Trafford on August 14th, where he appeared as a tactical substitute for Rodrigo in a 5–1 loss.

International career

Despite being born in the Dominican Republic, the majority of his life has been spent in Spain and continues to have citizenship for both countries. He was ineffective for the Dominican Republic senior national team against the Brazil Olympic team for the second half of a 0–6 non-FIFA friendly defeat on October 9, 2015.

Junior was named in two 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying matches against Albania and Northern Ireland on August 31. He made his debut on September 7th, beating the former 3–0 to open the season.

Bristol City is 0-1 Leeds United's goal is to make a difference maker

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 2, 2024
Leeds beat Bristol City 2-0 at Ashton Gate, with Willy Gnonto's goal being the deciding factor. During the first half, chances were few and far between, with the best falling to Crycensio Summerville, who was sent through one against the keeper and then slotting straight at Max O'Leary. The breakthrough came just after the halftime break when Junior Firpo played a strong ball forward and slamming it in into Gnonto.

Leeds approach Leicester and Tottenham over loan deals for Luke Thomas and Djed Spence - as the Yorkshire club look to bolster their full-back options ahead of deadline day

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 29, 2023
Djed Spence, a left-back for Leicester City, and Tottenham Hotspur's Djed Spence have all inquired about loan terms. Despite keeping hold of Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling's track record and bringing former Norwich star Sam Byram on a free transfer this summer, the Championship team is keen to return to full throttle following their relegation from the top flight. Leeds has had a mixed bag of results to start the Championship season, winning and losing once and drawing twice under Daniel Farke.

Leeds' striker shortage adds to Daniel Farke's problems as he reiterates the need for more signings this summer ahead of Championship opener

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 4, 2023
ROSS HEPPENSTALE: Farke's reign begins at home to Cardiff City, but Patrick Bamford, club-record signing Georginio Rutter, and highly rated 19-year-old Mateo Joseph are among the many people who will be missing. Leeds will start the season with a diminutive strikeforce of 5ft 7in Willy Gnonto and 5ft 6in Crysencio Summerville. In last Sunday's friendly at Hearts, Bamford (hamstring) and Rutter (core) were injured, while England youth international Joseph Jones suffered ankle ligament damage in preparation. Following last season's demobilization, Farke is now without Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo, Cody Drameh, Tyler Adams, Stuart Dallas, and Sam Greenwood.
