Julius Caesar Concepcion Babao (born July 15, 1968), also known as Julius Babao, is a Filipino broadcast journalist, radio commentator, and former talk show host for the Philippine television station ABS-CBN.

He has been known for hosting television Patrol from 2003 to 2010.

Personal life

Julius Babao is a graduate of Mass Communication, specializing in film and audio visual communication from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is married to Christine Bersola, his former co-host. Antonia Julia Sofia (also known as Anya, b.) and their daughter. Antonio Francesco, a 2005) and his son Antonio Francesco (b. (2010, a student at the University of Oxford, Cambridge).

Snow, Krystal, Kirby, and Kamatz are only a few of the Siberian Huskies raised by the couple, to name a few.

Julius and Christine are both avid art collectors, and their collection was mainly purchased from Dr. Joven Cuanang's Boston Gallery. The couple auctioned-off paintings from 125 participating artists at the Pinto Art Gallery in July 2008, Caloocan's 40th birthday, and the funds went to the Art 40 Village, a boutique in Bagong Silang, Caloocan, whose proceeds went to the construction of the Art 40 Village.

He is also a Hypebeast item collector, Streetwear enthusiast (especially those made by the brand Supreme), a sneakerhead, and even has a YouTube channel dedicated to such lifestyle.

Julius Babao Career

Career

Julius Babao started his career as a production assistant in GMA Network's DZBB-AM in 1990.

He was soon promoted as a radio reporter and a contributor for GMA News thanks to hard work and perseverance. Babao left GMA for ABS-CBN in 1993, where he worked as a television reporter for TV Patrol. He was recruited by ABS-CBN News' senior management to be a standby anchor for Frankie Evangelista in TV Patrol in the same year.

Babao hosted Alas Singko Y Medya in 1996, which he hosted with his future wife Christine Bersola-Babao until 2001.

From 2001 to 2002, the couple continued to host Talk TV, a daily morning talk-show.

Babao debuted as the station's flagship news program TV Patrol's weekday edition in April 2003, and Korina Sanchez took over as the station's anchors.

With Julius and Tintin, he and his wife created Magandang Morning, a morning radio program for DZMM in 2004. Radyo Patrol Balita: Alas Siyete, the newscast they are anchoring every weekend, will be coincided with their morning radio show. He was appointed as one of the founders of public-affairs program XXX: Exklusibong, Exposé, where they look at reports and irregularities of public and private practice in the Philippines in 2006.

Babao and Karen Davila were on TV Patrol on November 5, 2010, to anchor the late evening top newscast, Bandila.

He began anchoring Aksyon Ngayon with Kaye Dacer and Radyo Patrol Balita: Alas Dose on January 10, 2011, both of whom are on Sundays.

Babao began hosting Lingkod Kapamilya, replacing Aksyon Ngayon with Bernadette Sembrano and then anchoring a daily newscast Radyo Patrol Balita: Bingo. Borayo is a Filipino national television network. Juan Carlos Sembrano replaced him with Lingkod Kapamilya, where he joined Tony Velasquez as the anchor on January 2, 2017. Along Zen Hernandez, he is also the weekend anchor of TeleRadyo Balita (formerly Radyo Patrol Balita: Alas Siyete).

He also hosted Mission Possible, an award-winning advocacy program that airs every Monday evenings and Saturday mornings.

After Ted Failon's departure and later as a relief anchor for Noli de Castro & Henry Omaga-Diaz and on the weekend edition for Alvin Elchico, he returned to TV Patrol on September 7, 2020.

After 28 years with ABS-CBN, he announced that he would leave the network as part of the ABS-CBN's retrenchment initiative launched by the Philippine Congress that scraped the new ABS-CBN legislative franchise from operation on December 31, 2021. He made his last appearance on TV Patrol as a rescue anchor and two days later on TeleRadyo Balita.

Babao joined TV5 in January 2022 to anchor the network's primetime newscast Frontline Pilipinas on February 7, 2022, with former Alas Singko Y Medya and Magandang Umaga, Bayan anchor Cheryl Cosim, coincident with the latter's birthday. Julius & Tintin: Para Sa Pamilyang Pilipino, a television show dedicated to his wife, appeared on Radyo5 92.3 News FM and One PH on March 21, 2022.
