Around 2,000 riot police officers have been sent out in suburbs around the capital. On Wednesday, trash cans were lit on fire and fireworks were launched in Nanterre, France's western suburb, as well as other communes of the Hauts-de-Seine region to the west of Paris and in the eastern city of Dijon.
