Juan Covington (born March 3, 1962) is an American serial murderer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He worked at Pennsylvania Hospital and was arrested in 2005 after a security camera video linked him to the murder of coworker Patricia McDermott, 48, a radiographer, in 2005.
Early life
Juan Covington was born in Philadelphia's Logan neighborhood on March 3, 1962, one of two virtually identical brothers. His father died in 1990, and his childhood was apparently normal until then. After that time, Covington would often fall into depressive moods and begin taking drugs, but after a few years, he declared himself "cured" after a few years. Despite his assertions, he began wearing military fatigues and patrolling his neighborhood for unseen forces, before refusing to bathe or wash himself. He stayed gazing at the decorated tree at one Christmas because he thought it was moving, according to his family members. Despite this, he was regarded as a good citizen who served as a bus driver for SEPTA for about 18 years before moving to hauling medical waste for local hospitals. Covington was a quiet, yet easily offended man, according to neighbors, but otherwise, he was regarded as fairly normal.
