Joshua Roberts (born 17 July 1986) is a Melbourne-born rugby league player for the Melbourne Aces and Ipswich Jets in the Queensland Rugby League and the Ipswich Jets. Josh was signed to the Cleveland Indians in 2003 and spent time with them, including playing catcher, first base, outfield, and even pitcher. Josh spent time in the Claxton Shield with the Queensland Rams as well as in the Ipswich Rugby League after being released. * In the Brisbane Bandits' first game of the Australian Baseball League, he played in right field on November 11, 2010. * He scored against the Sydney Blue Sox on November 26th, 2010 and finished with a.319/.548 clip, gaining MVP honors for the Bandits after leading the team in hits, walks, doubles, and home runs. Roberts was invited and unsuccessfully trialled with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of the NPB in 2011, but he has returned to the Brisbane Bandits and baseball as his top priority over rugby league since 2010.

In a horrific fire that sparked a block of flats in India, a Scot businesswoman and her young son were killed. On Monday, Glory Valthaty and Joshua Roberts, both from Aberdeen, were killed in the fire at the Veena Santoor building in Mumbai. At the time of the tragedy, the two were visiting relatives in Navratri, the annual Hindu festival. When the fire broke out at 12.27 p.m., Ms Valhatry and six-year-old Joshua were staying in a flat on the fourth floor of the eight-story building. Paul Chandrashekar Valthaty, a former Indian Premier League cricket player, was the sister of the 42-year-old.
