Josh McDaniels Life

Joshua Thomas McDaniels (born April 22, 1976) is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. (NFL).

McDaniels was one of the Patriots' coaching staff to win all six Super Bowl titles; he was with the team from 2001 to 2008, serving in various capacities.

He is the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL.

McDaniels was hired as the Denver Broncos' head coach in 2009.

At the time of his employment, 33-year-old McDaniels was the NFL's youngest head coach, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers named Raheem Morris, a five-month-old boy, as their head coach just over a week later.

After a 3–9 start in 2010, McDaniels was fired by Denver.

He spent the 2011 season as offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams before being fired by the Patriots for the 2011 playoffs to serve as an offensive assistant for the Patriots in their quest to Super Bowl XLVI.

Personal life

McDaniels is the son of Thom McDaniels (the 1997 USA Today High School Coach of the Year and often described as a "legend" of Ohio high school football). McDaniels was credited with sparking him to teach by attending his father's activities during his youth. Josh is also the brother of Ben McDaniels, who currently works with the Houston Texans.

Josh and his partner, Laura, have four children.

Josh McDaniels Career

Playing career

Greg Debeljak, recruited out of Canton McKinley High School, where he played football primarily as a wide receiver from 1995 to 1998. Despite being a quarterback in high school, Nick Caserio, who departed at John Carroll in 2001, has since been the Patriots' quarterback. John Carroll's other teammates included London Fletcher, formerly a linebacker with the St. Louis Rams, Buffalo Bills, and Washington Redskins, as well as Brian Polian, the former head coach of the University of Nevada-Reno; Jerry Schuplinski, the Los Angeles Chargers; and Las Vegas general manager Dave Ziegler.

Coaching career

McDaniels began his teaching career at Michigan State University in 1999, under Nick Saban, delaying his father's acquaintance with Saban. McDaniels left Michigan to Cleveland and worked as a plastics sales rep.

McDaniels was hired as a staff assistant by the Patriots in 2001. He served as a defensive coaching assistant for the team from 2002 to 2003, most notably in 2003, when he was playing with the defensive backs. He became the team's quarterbacks coach in 2004. After offensive coordinator Charlie Weis left the team following the 2004 season, the Patriots did not have an offensive coordinator for the 2005 season. According to The New York Times, it was McDaniels who called the offensive plays for the 2005 season, although there were attempts to that effect in 2005. McDaniels was promoted to offensive coordinator after the season, but he kept his position as coach of the team's quarterbacks.

The Patriots set NFL records in 2007, scoring 75 touchdowns (67 on offense, 50 passing and 17 rushing), and 589 points, prompting rumors that McDaniels will leave the Patriots for a head coaching position. McDaniels dropped his name from consideration during the Patriots' January 2008 playoff run. Bill Belichick, the Patriots' head coach, and a winning team, was sent by McDaniels shortly after the Patriots' loss in Super Bowl XLII. During the 2008 season, the two will meet to discuss the paper and encourage McDaniels to ask non-coaching questions that he prompted to later head coaching interviews.

In Week 1 of the 2008 season, starting quarterback Tom Brady sustained a season-ending injury. As the team finished the season with an 11–5 record, McDaniels directed the Matt Cassel-led Patriots' offense.

The Denver Broncos hired McDaniels as their head coach on January 11, 2009, replacing Mike Shanahan. In a press conference the next day, the Broncos announced McDaniels, who promised to sign a four-year, $8 million contract as their head coach.

McDaniels' tenure with the Broncos was jeopardized early on by a controversy surrounding the team's quarterback, Jay Cutler, which would have sent Matt Cassel to Denver. According to ESPN, a conference call involving McDaniels, team owner Pat Bowlen, and Cutler was unable to resolve the problems on March 9, 2009. Following the trade scandal, Cutler said he did not trust McDaniels and the company. The Broncos traded Cutler and a 2009 fifth-round draft pick to the Chicago Bears for quarterback Kyle Orton, first- and third-round picks in 2009 and a first-round pick in 2010.

With six straight victories, including an overtime victory over the Patriots in Week 5, the Broncos began their second season under McDaniels before losing four straight games in Week 6. McDaniels and the Broncos still had a chance to play in the playoffs, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, 44-24, Denver's third straight home loss to a division opponent. The Broncos had an 8–8 record in season. McDaniels was suspended for the game due to disciplinary reasons; Marshall will be recalled to the Miami Dolphins after the season.

McDaniels' second season in Denver ended with a 3–9 record. On December 5, the Broncos fired McDaniels, and the Kansas City Chiefs fired him the next day.

The Broncos were under scrutiny by the NFL on November 27, after it was announced that Steve Scarnecchia, the team's director of video operations, was hired by McDaniels in 2009, caught a San Francisco 49ers' walkthrough practice at Wembley Stadium in London, England, England.

The NFL suspended the Broncos and McDaniels $50,000 each on the same day, but Scarnecchia was suspended as a result of the incident. Since the rest of the Broncos' staff had left the stadium, Scarnecchia told NFL investigators he acted alone and "knew it was wrong" to tape the walkthrough session. Scarnecchia later provided McDaniels with the six-minute video, but McDaniels declined to view it, and the Broncos did not receive a competitive advantage from it. On November 8, the Broncos, who launched an internal probe before alerting the NFL, were alerted by an unidentified source. The NFL Security Investigation began shortly, with forensic investigation of the machine from which the recording was later deleted by Scarnecchia. Both the NFL and Broncos found that McDaniels knew nothing about the incident.

However, McDaniels was fined by the NFL for failing to report the incident right away, as required by policy. "clubs are ultimately responsible for the conduct of their employees," the Broncos were fined by the NFL.

McDaniels released the following statement later:

According to The Denver Post, the videotaping incident was a major factor in McDaniels' firing a week later; although the Broncos did not find it necessary to be fired for cause, the Broncos did not believe it was "unforgivable" that he was unforgivenable."

McDaniels, the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, agreed to become the offensive coordinator on January 18, 2011. Spagnuolo was the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII, while McDaniels was the Patriots' offensive coordinator. "I've always known that he is one of the best offensive minds in the league," Spagnuolo said. "He is a great addition to our team," says the company's president. McDaniels would not have no involvement in any personnel decisions, according to another news conference.

Spagnuolo was fired as head coach after the 2011 season. Although McDaniels was under control for the 2012 season, the Rams told him that they did not keep him to his terms and would encourage him to leave. McDaniels was hired by the Patriots to serve as an offensive assistant coach in the 2011 playoffs and to replace Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the 2012 season. After the 2011 season ended, O'Brien left the Patriots to serve as head coach at Penn State, but he continued playcalling duties through Super Bowl XLVI.

McDaniels was a member of another championship for the Patriots in 2014, winning Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks during the 2014 season. McDaniels coached the offense in another Patriots championship season, this time defeating the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. In overtime, the Patriots defeated the Falcons by 34–28.

McDaniels was named as the Indianapolis Colts' new head coach on February 6, 2018. McDaniels resigned from the position on the same day, but the Patriots announced that he had decided to remain with the Patriots on the same day. In response, Bob LaMonte, the long-serving agent, who had been a McDaniels representative, had to leave him. In 2018, the Patriots won Super Bowl LIII, earning McDaniels his third title as offensive coordinator.

McDaniels was hired as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders on January 31, 2022. In week 4, McDaniels defeated McDaniels' former team, the Denver Broncos, for his first victory with the Raiders.

Jimmy Garoppolo of the Las Vegas Bulls has been released one year after he signed a $73 million contract with the team, but the team has since been barred from PED use

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 13, 2024
The Las Vegas Raiders have cut quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after he earned a three-year, $73 million contract just 12 months ago, capping a lackluster tenure with the AFC West franchise. After the Raiders began the season 3-5, Garoppolo went from unchallenged quarterback No. 1 to replaceable in Las Vegas, which culminated in Josh McDaniels' dismissal as head coach. And if Garoppolo joins a different team, he will face another two-game suspension for breaking the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.

At NFL Honors, Antonio Brown makes a derogatory remark about Chandler Jones winning 'CTE Recipient of the Year' after a troubling former NFL star sparked fans with a series of off-field occurrences

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 10, 2024
On Friday night, Antonio Brown made a derogatory joke about fellow football player Chandler Jones, premiering a mockery of the year's 'CTE Recipient of the Year.' Jones, an NFL veteran who most recently played for the Oakland Raiders, has had a string of troubling off-field incidents this year, including how Josh McDaniels was blamed for the death of ex-teammate Aaron Hernandez's suicide, and he was suspended for breaching a domestic violence temporary protective order. When Brown posted the fake NFL Honors chart on X, he mocked the defensive end, captioning the message '#CTESPN'.

Antonio Pierce was congratulated by Deion Sanders and Maxx Crosby as the Las Vegas Cowboys' full-time head coach

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 20, 2024
Antonio Pierce, the Las Vegas Raiders' permanent head coach, has received a few congratulators on social media. Earlier this day, multiple sources broke that the Raiders were planning to hire Pierce full-time after he had spent weeks of the season as the interim head coach in Las Vegas after former head coach Josh McDaniels was fired. After taking over and being embraced by several players in the Raiders locker room after the team's culture was changed, Pierce led the team to a 5-4 record.
