Professional career

With the 32nd pick, the Minnesota Twins selected Berros in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast Twins of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League in 2009 and was promoted to the Elizabethton Twins of the Rookie-level Appalachian League in August. He was 3–0 on a 1.17 ERA, striking out 49 batters in 30.2 innings pitched between both teams.

Berros was 7-7 with a 3.99 ERA in 19 starts during the 2013 season. Berros joined the Fort Myers Miracle of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League in 2014. In July, he was selected to participate in the All-Star Futures Game. He was promoted to the New Britain Rock Cats of the Class AA Eastern League on July 7 after being 9-3 with a 1.96 ERA in 16 starts. He made his New Britain debut in eight starts, leading to a 3–4 record and a 3.54 ERA. At the end of the season, he appeared in one game for the Rochester Red Wings of the Class AAA International League.

Berro began the 2015 season with the Chattanooga Lookouts of the Class AA Southern League, and the Chattanooga Lookouts received their second midseason promotion to Rochester. In 27 combined starts between the two clubs, he established a 14-05 record and a 2.87 ERA. He appeared with Rochester in the 2016 season.

Berros was drafted by the Twins to make his major league debut on April 27, 2016. He was 2–0 with a 1.06 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 18 innings pitched for Rochester prior to his promotion. During the season, he was recalled and optioned multiple times. He had been 3–7 with an 8.02 ERA in 14 starts for Minnesota, and in 17 starts for Rochester, he was 10–5 with a 2.51 ERA.

Berros was born in Rochester, New Jersey, in 2017. He was promoted to the Twins on May 13, where he spent the remainder of the season after going 3–0 with a 1.13 ERA in six starts. He was 14–8 with a 3.89 ERA in 26 games (25 starts) with Minnesota.

Berros made his first appearance of the 2018 season on April 1, 2018 in Minnesota's starting rotation, starting in 2018. He pitched a complete game three-hit shutout against the Baltimore Orioles, with six strikeouts, leading to the Twins' 7–0 victory. Berrios won 4–0 over the Chicago White Sox on April 12, 2018, tying his career high 11 strikeouts. In seven scoreless innings for Minnesota played in his hometown Puerto Rico against a sold-out audience at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium on April 18, 2018, Berros finished with five strikeouts and no walks in seven scoreless innings. Berrios became the second Puerto Rican pitcher to start a regular-season MLB game at Hiram Bithorn, the first being Javier Vazquez, who made four appearances with the Montreal Expos in 2003. On June 7th against the Chicago White Sox, he was the 9th Twins pitcher to pitch a complete game and strike out at least 10 batters without giving a walk in his second straight game.

Berros was selected to the 2018 MLB All-Star Game after his 8–7 record with a 3.54 ERA over 18 starts. He was the only Twin selected to play in the all-star game. Berros pitched one scoreless 5th inning in the All-Star Game, winning the game a hold. Berros had a 12.84 ERA and 202 strikeouts over 32 starts in the season, leading the league in complete games and complete game shutouts.

Berrios will face the Cleveland Indians on March 5, 2019, according to the team. Although not allowing a run, he went 7.2 innings and had 10 strikeouts, but not allowing a run. He got the victory and the Minnesota Twins beat the Minnesota Twins 2–0.

Berros will be included in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game on July 3, 2019.

Berros appeared in 12 games with the Minnesota Twins, a 5-4 record with 4.00 ERA and 68 strikeouts in 63.0 innings pitched.

Berros played 20 games with the 2021 Minnesota Twins, compiling a 7-5 record and 126 strikeouts in 121+220 innings pitched, compiling a 7-5 record and 126 strikeouts.
