Early life
Fox was born in New York City to Montreal-born parents Edward and Marilyn Fox, and is of French-Canadian, Belgian, and Irish descent. She was raised on a tiny barrier island off the coast of Melbourne, Florida. Jeff is her older brother. She admits to being overweight as she grew up, with a noticeable gap between her teeth. She discovered that neither her wisdom teeth nor braces had much improved (although wisdom teeth were no longer considered as causing crowding of the anterior teeth), and Fox said "forget it."
After winning a local competition, she began modelling after attending Melbourne High School for two years. She enrolled as a drama student at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York City under the tutelage of actor William Hickey.
Career
Fox appeared in films and television series, including the opening scene of a 1993 episode of the NBC legal drama Law & Order. In the third, fourth, and fifth seasons (1996–99) of Fox's medical drama ER, he was a regular character. The campaign also organized plane flyovers over the Universal Studios lot in California, where CSI is shot. The banners read "Keep Jorja Fox on CBS." Fox decided to leave CSI on October 15, 2007, citing a break "from the commitment of a weekly television series." Fox requested that the funds earned during the "Dollars for Sense" campaign be donated to CASA, an organization dedicated to supporting foster children. The character "Goodbye and Good Luck" on November 15, 2007, the character's last regular appearance in an episode of CSI before the show's tenth season ended.
In May 2008, Fox returned to CSI's ninth season as a guest star. She returned to William Petersen's last scene ("One To Go"), surprising Sara, and touching a passionate kiss in the episode's finale, wherein the two stars shared a passionate kiss.
Fox will be back to CSI in the summer of 2009. Fox was first scheduled to appear in the tenth season premiere ("Family Affair") on September 24, 2009, as well as four additional episodes.
