Jorge Alessandri Life

Jorge Eduardo Rodro (American Spanish) (1956-68; 19 May 1896 – September 1, 1986) was Chile's 27th President from 1958 to 1964, and he was the candidate of the Chilean right in the crucial presidential election of 1970, which he lost to Salvador Allende. He was the son of Arturo Alessandri, who served as president from 1920 to 1925 and then from 1932 to 1938.

Early years

Jorge Alessandri was born in Santiago de Chile. He attended Instituto Nacional Gregor Carrera, Chile's most prestigious public high school, and University of Chile, and after graduating in 1919, he worked as a lecturer. He was in European exile with his parents from 1924 to 1925, but he returned to his native country, where he was elected as a non-member of parliament in 1926.

He went from public life in 1932 to focus on company, rising as president of Caja de Crédito Hipotecario until 1938 and then governing the Paper and Cardboard Manufacturing Company. He was chairman of the Chilean employers' confederation from 1944 to 1947.

Public life after his government

A letter from 900 companies directing Alessandri to investigate the general truth and highlight his civic engagement in the media on November 3, 1965, marking his second presidential run. Hugo Galvez Gajardo, a scholar; Adolfo Guzmán Errázuriz, university president; and Jorge Delano Frederick, a historian, all ordered adhesions to advertise Jorge Alessandri's presidential candidacy. Despite the fact that Alessandri held a low profile throughout the 1964-1970s, he never explicitly denied a return to politics. "I perceived, and specifically, the increasing tide of dissatisfaction, fear, and trepidation, was an inevitable product of just awakened but unsatisfied aspirations," he said on one occasion.
