Early life
Rodrigues was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia to Malaysian parents.
Rodrigues followed his passion for dance and acting after failing to find success as a basketball player.
Career
Rodrigues' first professional acting appearance came when he appeared in The Lion King's Australian tour at The Capitol Theatre, beginning in October 2003. He had no preparation up to the audition but he did a good job on stage as one of the lead characters. For two and a half years, he performed three times a week.
Rodrigues has been dancing on Brent Street for more than ten years, and he has delved into jazz, ballet, hip hop, theatre, and singing.
Rodrigues said in January 2008 that he wanted to work in acting and joined an acting company. He has worked in various commercial appearances and auditioned for the part of Jai Fernandez in both Home and Away. In March 2008, he made his debut. Since finishing his role as 'Jai Fernandez' on Home and Away, Rodrigues was nominated for a TV Week Silver Logie as the Most Popular New Talent in 2009.
