Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr. (born January 2, 1992), also known by his stage name Alden Richards, is a Filipino actor, TV presenter, product endorser, businessman, and recording artist.

Richards has been dubbed the Asia's Best Actor after winning the 2019 Seoul International Drama Award, the equivalent to the best acting award, which is held in South Korea.

Alakdana, Tween Hearts, One True Love, Carmela, The Road, Imagine You and Me, Victor Maganggol, and Hello, Love, Goodbye are just a few of his notable works.

He is also known for his role as Laiert in Encantadia's resurgent series.

Richards received his first Best Actor award in 2015 for his role as José Rizal in Ilustrado, as a recording artist.

His eponymous album received Platinum status, but Wish I May gained Diamond status.

Early life

Alden Richards was born Richard Reyes Faulkerson, Jr., on January 2, 1992 in Quezon City, and was raised in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Laguna. He is Richard Perpeta Faulkerson, Sr. of Ermita, Manila, and Rosario Reyes, a native of Pampanga. He has three siblings, an older brother, and two younger sisters. Richards' paternal grandfather, who never met him, was an American.

Richards aspired to be a pilot as a child, but his mother advised him not to pursue acting instead. Richards decided to join various male beauty pageants in Laguna to support his family financially and fulfill his mother's desire for him to be an actor. Acting career

Alden auditioned for an acting role on the GMA Network's afternoon soap, Alakdana, after doing modeling stints. He did not get into the audition and played Joma. Louise delos Reyes, the lead actor, was paired in Alakdana. Alden Richards used the stage name Alden Richards when he first became an actor. He was included in the teen drama Tween Hearts, and later in the 2012 film adaptation Tween Hearts. On Sunday's variety show Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars, he appeared on GMA Network's Sunday variety shows Party Pilipinas and Sunday All Stars. He also appeared in Spooky Nights, a comedy-horror film. Richards was praised for his role as a psychopath in the film The Road. He took over Aljur Abrenica's role as Gobi in Ang Panday 2, which is an entry to the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival, by the end of 2011. Abbynica's scenes were cut from the film due to a slew of deadlines and Richards re-shoots scenes shot by Abby Abrita. Richards was also praised by several entertainment journalists for his appearances, with some of them predicting that he will be the next big celebrity of GMA Network.

On national television, Sam Pinto invited FHM Sexiest of 2011 to a date. The actor accepted the invitation and joined Richards in the Manila Bay on a cruise, but the actress confirmed that it was just a friendly date. On Valentine's Day of 2012, a GMA Network promo, A Date with Alden Richards, a GMA Network promotion, was held on national television and the micro-blogging platform Twitter, where it became a trend.

On the prime time series My Beloved headlined by Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes in 2012, Alden played the supporting role of a thief named Rico. He appeared on the episode "UNOS" (Calamity) of the fourth season of a Holy Week special, Tanikalala, presented by Christian Broadcasting Network. Richards appeared in his first lead role in One True Love, which premiered on June 11, 2012, and was paired with Louise delos Reyes. Alden was paired with Marian Rivera in the television series Carmela in 2014. Carmela's ending theme was "Naaala Ka" from his self-titled album. Nora Aunor, a veteran Filipina actress, appeared in a short film called Kinabukasan. He and Regine Velasquez co-hosted Bet ng Bayan, a talent search television show hosted by GMA Network, together with Regine Velasquez. Ilustrado, GMA News and Public Affairs' other television series, came close to the end of 2014. Richards was given his first Best Actor award from the 29th PMPC Star Awards for Television. He played Filipino patriot José Rizal. He was the only nominee from his home network against a field of respected actors from the rival television network.

Alden debuted on November 15, 2015 as part of the Philippines' longest-running noontime variety show, Eat Bulaga! In the episode "That's My Bae," he appeared as a host. Richards was mistakenly linked to his Eat Bulaga on July 16, 2015. During an episode of the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment, co-host Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza appeared on "Juan for Those, All for Juan" segment. They were instantly identified as AlDub, a love team.

Joey de Leon's Kalyeserye created a mini-series for AlDub. Richards appears in Kalyeserye in roles such as a fictionalized version of himself and as Anselmo.

Alden signed a four-year film deal with APT Entertainment, Eat Bulaga's film company, on August 6, 2015. TAPE Inc, a manufacturer based in the United States. Richards also signed a recording deal with GMA Records française in the month. Wish I May, Richards' second album, was released in SM City North's EDSA Cinema 11. Two original songs are included on the album, the rest are recreations. "Wish I May," Agat Obar-Morallo's first composition, was released in September 2015 and was released earlier for online downloading and streaming. On Sunday, October 18, 2015, the music video of "Wish I May" premiered on GMA Network's Sunday noontime show PinaSaya, where Richards is also a co-host. The single debuted on the top of iTunes's song charts, receiving the highest accolades. The song "Wish I May" is used as the theme tune for the series with the same name. Before being officially launched, the sophomore album received a gold record from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI).

Alden's self-titled debut album received a gold record award from PARI in September 2015 and ranked 10 on Billboard's World Albums Charts (Billboard). Universal Records released a special version of the debut album in October 2015 that featured AlDub theme song "God Gave Me You" by Bryan White. The album Wish I May received a platinum record award from PARI for more than 15,000 copies in the same month. Alden Richards' debut album Alden Richards was certified platinum in November 2015. Wish I May was released on June 21, 2016, the fourth platinum award for the album's fourth year in February 2016, five times platinum in July 2016, and eight times platinum in September 2016.

"MaGMAyong Pasko," Alden's Christmas station ID, was performed by the group in 2015. Richards performed the theme song on the radio ID music video with Maine Mendoza and the Kalyeserye's lolas (Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Paolo Ballesteros). Alden and Maine appeared in God Gave Me You, a Lenten season drama special of Eat Bulaga! As AlDub's first anniversary of giving to fans, Imagine You and Me was shown in theaters in July 2016. Richards and Mendoza played star-crossed lovers and were first actors in the film for the first time. Richards published Alden Richards: In My Own Words under Summit Media in August 2016. Aside from being a regular host in Eat Bulaga, I'm a fan of this! PinaSaya, Richards' television appearances in 2016 included his appearances as a contestant in Lip Sync Battle Philippines and as a spectator in the television series That's My Amboy, where he portrayed himself.
