Padilla's first acting role was in 2010, a minor role in Gimik 2010, a revival of the hit 1990s Filipino youth-oriented show in which he was paired with Julia Montes. Daniel Padilla, the screen name of his biological father, was used to describe him when he entered Star Magic. He was next cast as Patrick Rivero in the youth-oriented film Growing Up, where he first appeared with co-star Kathryn Bernardo. In the soap opera Princess and I (2012โ€“2013), one of ABS-CBN's most popular programs, He and Bernardo starred together again.
