High school career
Poole made a game-tying three-point shot in the closing seconds as a freshman at Rufus King High School in Wisconsin. As a blue chip high school basketball recruit, Poole toured Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Drake, and Marquette. Then, who was in Michigan for the football game between the 2015 Wolverines and BYU on September 26, was given an invite that weekend. On October 17, he returned to campus for the rivalry game against Michigan State. Poole, a four-star recruit from head coach John Beilein and assistant coach LaVall Jordan, as well as several Michigan campus visits, became the first commitment for the Class of 2017 on October 23, 2015. College career
Michigan defeated Indiana 69–55 in their 2017–18 Big Ten conference season opener, with Poole leading the way with a team-high 19 points and then career-high 19 points in his Big Ten debut. Michigan defeated Maryland 68–67 on January 15, 2006. Michigan trailed by 14 points in the first half and ten points at halftime, with seven points in the second half, including three by Poole, who made him one of the only two double digit scorers for Michigan in the game. The Maize Rage (Michigan's student section) held a "Poole party" in the stands on February 3rd, but Poole missed all four of his field goal attempts. Poole ended the regular season with three straight double-digit scoring attempts against (#8 AP Poll/#9 Coaches Poll) Ohio State on February 21, and Maryland on February 24, as the State of Ohio finished its season on February 19, and Maryland on February 24, respectively. Michigan defeated Houston 64–63 in the second round of the 2018 NCAA tournament on March 17, 2018, giving Michigan its fourth Sweet 16 in six years. The shot was described as nearly identical to the buzzer beater he had used a year before in the Dick's National Championship game. Poole had 8 points and 2 rebounds throughout the game, but his only field goal attempt in his four minutes of play in the second half was the game winner. Michigan lead by two points with 3.6 seconds remaining in the game, and Isaiah Livers passed the ball from under the opposite basket to Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman near midcourt. Abdur-Rahkman threw the ball to Poole with 2 seconds remaining after two dribbles. In the press, the term "poole party" was often used to describe Poole's triumphant shooting. Professional career
In the first round of the 2019 NBA draft, Poole was drafted 28th overall, according to the Golden State Warriors on June 20, 2019. His three-year deal was worth $6.2 million per year. On July 11, the Warriors signed Poole to his rookie scale deal. In the Warriors' inaugural game of the 2019-20 season, Poole made his NBA debut on October 24, going off bench in a 122–141 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, with five points, two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Green struck Poole on October 5, 2022, after a team workout with the Warriors, Poole, and teammate Draymond Green got into an altercation that resulted in Green hitting Poole.
