Jonathan Freeman (born February 5, 1950) is an American actor, voice actor, and puppeteer best known for puppeteering and voicing Tito Swing in Disney's Aladdin series, as well as the Kingdom Hearts franchise and the 2011 Aladdin musical.

Career

Freeman is also known as the puppeteer for Tito Swing of the Jukebox Band, a position he once said he's called in to reprise every 3 to six months, as well as being the voice of Jafar in Aladdin. In the direct-to-video sequel to Aladdin, The Return of Jafar, Freeman's role as Jafar was revived.

In 1994, he was nominated for the Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in She Loves Me. In addition, he appeared in the Broadway revivals of How to Succeed in Company Without Really Trying, The Producers, On the Town, and 42nd Street, in which his caricature was drawn for Sardi's restaurant in 2002.

The freeman can be seen on the 1997 Varèse Sarabande studio recording of the failed 1965 musical Drat! The Cat!

He appeared onstage as Cogsworth in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, as well as playing Grimsby in Disney's Little Mermaid's Broadway performance.

In the Hercules crossover with Aladdin, the freeman reprised his role as Jafar.

In the Broadway performance of Mary Poppins on December 12, 2009, Freeman began his role as Admiral Boom and the Bank Chairman.

In the new musical version of Aladdin, which appeared on Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre from July 7 to 31, 2011, Freeman also reprised his role as Jafar on stage. He reprised his role in the Broadway revival, which opened in March 2014 at the New Amsterdam Theatre, and was the only actor from the original cast of the animated film to do so. In addition,, he reprised his role in the special West End performance, which was shot on location at the Prince Edward Theatre in London on August 31, 2019. Freeman appeared in his final appearance for the company on January 23, 2022, after almost eight years with the show.
