John McLaughlin Life

John McLaughlin (born 4 January 1942), also known as "Mahavishnu John," is an English guitarist, bandleader, and composer.

His music incorporates many genres of jazz, Indian classical music, Western classical music, and the blues.

He is one of the pioneers of fusion. McLaughlin made Extrapolation, his first album as a bandleader in 1969, after being involved in several important British bands of the early 1960s.

In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, and On the Corner, he later migrated to the United States, where he performed with Tony Williams' band Lifetime and then with Miles Davis on his electric jazz-fusion albums In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, and On the Corner.

The Mahavishnu Orchestra, his 1970s electric band, performed a technically sophisticated and complex style of music that combined electric jazz and rock with Indian influences. McLaughlin's solo on "Miles Beyond" from his album Live at Ronnie Scott's received the Best Improvised Jazz Solo award in 2018.

Based on reader feedback, he has been given multiple "Guitarist of the Year" and "Best Jazz Guitarist" awards from magazines including DownBeat and Guitar Player.

In 2003, he was ranked 49th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

In the "Modern Jazz Maestros" category, DownBeat included McLaughlin in its top ranked list of "75 Great Guitarists" in 2009.

Guitar World magazine ranked him 63rd on its top 100 list in 2012.

Jeff Beck called McLaughlin "the best guitarist alive" in 2010, and Pat Metheny has also rated him as the world's best guitarist.

Personal life

He was first married to Sue, with whom he had a son Julian in 1966. He was married to Eve Kolosky as a Sri Chinmoy disciple. Katia Labèque, a French pianist who was also a member of his band in the early 1980s, lived with him for a time for a while. Ina Behrend, McLaughlin's fourth wife, is married to him as of 2017. In 1998, they had a son. He has lived in Monaco since the late 1980s.

McLaughlin, as well as Behrend, promotes Al-Mada, a Palestinian music therapy group whose "For My Identity I Sing" campaign. McLaughlin appeared in Ramallah, Palestine, in 2012 with Zakir Hussain, and in 2014 with the 4th Dimension.

Pro and anti-Donald Trump protesters descend as the ex-President's day of reckoning finally arrives

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 4, 2023
At around 10.30 a.m., Trump's trip to his arraignment will begin after he leaves his Trump Tower penthouse in Midtown Manhattan, closely guarded by his Secret Service detail, for an 11:35 am arrival at District Attorney Alvin Bragg's downtown office. Protests are planned along the streets from Trump Tower to the DA's office, with thousands of cops on standby in case of violence break out. Barricades are lining the road to hem in Trump supporters, in particular, who support the former president's assertion that the New York grand jury indictment is politically motivated and threatens to weaken his efforts to retake the White House in 2024. As Trump arrived at Trump Tower in Mar-A-Lago yesterday from his residence in Mar-A-Lago, throngs of pro-Trump demonstrators erupted to welcome the former president, waving flags and shouting support.
