John Long Life

* John Eddie Long (born August 28, 1956) is an American retired professional basketball player. The Detroit Pistons selected the 6' 5" (1.96 m) shooting guard in the second round of the 1978 NBA draft after playing at the University of Detroit. Dick Vitale, who coached Long at UD before transferring to the Pistons, was largely inspired by the move. * In 1981-82, he played eight seasons for the Pistons, scoring at a career-high 21.9 points per game. * Before Joe Dumars was drafted, he was the first backcourt partner to point guard Isiah Thomas. Long later played for the Indiana Pacers, where he was backed up by Reggie Miller before playing for the Atlanta Hawks, after Dumars was named the starter. Long, who played in the major leagues for several years, has since retired in 1997 with 12,131 career points. * At the time, the 41-year-old Long was the second oldest player in the NBA after Robert Parish, who was 43, was the second oldest player in the league. Terry Mills and Grant Long, two of John Long's nephews, both played in the NBA. * The nephews were teammates in Detroit during the 1996-1997 season. * All three guys played for the Detroit Pistons for two seasons or more. * He is now a Pistons radio analyst.

Revealed: Britain's best fish and chips. I'm a food expert who has eaten at 5,000 resturants... and here's my 37 ultimate chippies

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 14, 2024
Fish and chips. Not so much a dish as a national obsession, an integral part of British heritage. This heavenly combination of sea and soil got us through the war years (fish and chips were never rationed) and continues to provide crisp, deep-fried delight. Who can resist the eternal thrill of that warm paper-wrapped packet, scented with vinegar and heady anticipation, ready to be ripped open and devoured, knife and fork very much optional? And while everything tastes better with the sea breeze fluttering through one's hair, a beach or port is not essential. Good fish and chips transcend mere location. As a food writer of 25 years, I've dined in more than 5,000 restaurants and have written nine food books. Here are my favourite fish and chip takeaways across Britain.

In a 380-million-year-old fossil of an ancient jawed fish, the world's oldest heart was discovered

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 15, 2022
In a 380-million-year-old 'beautifully preserved' fossil of an ancient jawed fish, the world's oldest heart has been discovered. The heart was discovered by scientists from Curtin University along with a separate fossilized stomach, intestine, and liver, with the organs in a similar manner to modern shark anatomy. The team hopes that the finding will help to shed some light on the human body's evolutionary evolution.
