John Joseph Corbett (born May 9, 1961) is an American actor and country music performer.
He is best known for his appearances on CBS' Northern Exposure as Chris Stevens and as Aidan Shaw on HBO's Sex and the City.
He reprised his roles in Sex and the City 2 (2010).

Early life
Corbett was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, the United States. He grew up in an apartment block across the Ohio River with his mother and stepfather, both of whom worked at his uncle Phillip's music club. Corbett was raised Catholic and spent seven years at St. Joseph's Cathedral as an altar boy. His father was born in Bellaire, Ohio, and was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Corbett's mother was Jewish through her father, who was of Russian-Jewish descent.
Corbett started playing the guitar at age seven and at 16 years old, he served as a security guard at Capitol Music Hall. He attended Wheeling Central Catholic High School, from which he graduated in 1979.
Following his graduation from high school, Corbett moved to Bellflower, California, to live with his father and stepmother, and spent six years with Kaiser Steel in Fontana. He spent a year in the factory learning to become a L.A. County Deputy Sheriff but failed the exams. After injuring his back, Corbett ceased working at the factory; he later enrolled in hairdressing courses at Cerritos College in Norwalk, where he also studied acting. "I went to hair school by day and studied theatre at night," Corbett said. Since 1986, he has been a licensed hair stylist. He went on to work at Samsung and had appeared in 50 national commercials over the years.
Personal life
In the 1980s, Corbett was raised Catholic and "dabbled" in born-again Christianity, "before returning to his Catholic roots." Since meeting on a blind date, he has been in a relationship with actress Bo Derek since 2002. They married in December 2020. With their two German Shepherds and four horses, the pair lives on a ranch in Santa Ynez, California.

In the first season of ABC's comedy-drama series The Wonder Years, Corbett appeared in 1988, when he was played as Louis, the hippie boyfriend of Karen Arnold (Olivia d'Abo).
