Jodie Prenger Life

Jodie Prenger (born 12 June 1979) is an English actress and singer, best known as the winner of BBC television series I'd Do Anything on 31 May 2008 and the second series of The Biggest Loser in 2006.

Early life

Prenger was educated at Elmslie Girls' School in Blackpool and Blackpool and the Fylde College before starting work in the area as an entertainer. She has performed extensively on the cabaret circuit in Northern England and particularly her hometown of Blackpool and Fylde coast where she has also worked as an agony aunt. In June 1998 she appeared in two different shows each night in two Blackpool theatres. First she had a solo spot in the Tiptoes Summer Spectacular at the resort's Opera House theatre before appearing 20 minutes later in one of the main roles in a Blackpool and the Fylde College production of the musical comedy Hot Mikado at the Grand Theatre.

Prenger's first appearance on television came in 1999 when she appeared on A Taste for Travel on Granada Television with her mother. In 2000, she took part in the Dale Winton show The Other Half on BBC One in which she had to pretend to be the wife of boxer Chris Eubank. Later that year, she played the role of the good witch Hurricane in a non-skating role in Halloween Spectacular on Ice at Alton Towers in Staffordshire. In 2001, she spent eight months as one of four main entertainers in a team of 19 aboard the cruise ship Disney Wonder.

Personal life

Prenger was engaged to her boyfriend, Steve Greengrass, who proposed to her after the Saturday show in week three of I'd Do Anything on 12 April 2008; a whirlwind romance which was featured throughout the series as their first date some three months earlier had been Prenger's audition in Manchester. She split from Greengrass a few weeks after the show's finale.

In April 2012, Prenger announced her engagement to boyfriend of two years, Simon Booth, soon after her father Marty died of kidney cancer.

Prenger won the second series of The Biggest Loser in 2006, making her the first female to win the competition in the world, weighing 115 kilograms (18.1 st). During the course, she lost over 5 kilograms (8.0 st). Her final weight was 61 kilograms (9.6 st) and she slimmed down to a size 10 before settling on a size 14/16. Prenger received £25,000 for winning the competition. Jodie Prenger appeared on Charlotte Coyle's Fat Beauty Contest, where Coyle looked for plus-sized models for a beauty pageant in 2006.

Prenger appeared on The Paul O'Grady Show on March 10, 2009, where she discussed her time on The Biggest Loser. On seeing a snapshot of herself after losing weight, she said she felt she gained too much weight and became too thin at the time. She also stated that all women should have curves.

On May 31, 2008, Prenger became the winner of I'd Do Anything, giving her the opportunity to play Nancy in a West End revival of the British musical Oliver's revival! Drury Lane, Theatre Royal. Prenger appeared at auditions for the show in Manchester in January 2008 and made it to the final 42 at "Nancy School," where she was eventually selected as one of the twelve finalists to appear in the live shows each week.

Prenger was the joint favourite to win after her appearance on "Chasing Pavements" in the first live show of the series. "I love you to death, you connected with everyone, and told the tale," panelist John Barrowman said, "that's making a good Nancy." Denise Van Outen, another panelist, said "Nancy needs to have a lot of life experience, and I see that coming through in your performance." It was absolutely amazing. "You've got the toughness but also a tenderness," Barry Humphries, another panelist who had appeared in the original Lionel Bart West End stage performance. "A stunning appearance and a fine actress," says the narrator. Jodie could "fully play this part," according to head judge Andrew Lloyd Webber. Prenger was "destined for the West End," according to week five Humphries, and Barrowman named Prenger his "perfect Nancy" in week eight. In the week leading up to the final in week ten, the Nancy finalists took public photographs reinterpreting some of Madonna's iconic images. To recreate the album Like a Virgin's cover, Prenger posed in a wedding dress. "Cameron thinks she is a bit too large and has more or less said so" on the 30th May, Webber revealed that theatrical director Cameron Mackintosh, who produced the show and joined the panel in week nine, is worried about her curvaceous figure. However, Webber defended Prenger, saying she had both the vocal skills and personality for the role, and that "Jodie might be anyone's idea of Nancy." She has a beautiful voice and a vivacious demeanor. She has worked with her as well." Prenger's appearance as a finalist on May 31 will be included in a total of seven songs, including her rendition of "As Long as He Needs Me" after she was announced champion. "I'd Do Something" with all the Nancy and Oliver finalists; "Getting to Know You" with Laurence; and "As Long As he Needs Me" and "I Have Nothing" from A Star Is Born. Mackintosh said, "Jodie has persuaded me that she could make a Nancy." You absolutely have to be in the final." "You believe the terms." Barrowman said, "every song she sings, you believe the terms." I'm looking forward to the day when I will guest star with you on the West End. "That was a very, very good show," Webber said. You have an outstanding talent as well as a stoutling voice. I don't know if it's going to be big enough tonight, but it could be." Prenger performed her favorite song from the series, "I Have Nothing," and Nancy's tragic love ballad, "As Long As He Needs Me" in the second part of the live final. "You've genuinely given me my dreams, but I can't even put into words how I feel," Prenger said after she was announced as the winner. I'm so grateful and chuffed. "I'm just Jodie from Blackpool, and here is my apprehension." "The people's Nancy," Andrew Lloyd Webber said. "I think people adore her, and they adore her open personality." Jodie was always going to be the people's choice." I think they relate to that person, and I'm sure that makes her Nancy for the public. Her greatest strengths are her personality and her "very loud voice." "I'm thrilled for Jodie," Mackintosh said. "She is obviously the public's view of what they want to see as Nancy," says the author. She'll do a fantastic show and I'm looking forward to her training and getting her into rehearsals.

Prenger will appear on six of Oliver's eight weekly shows in June 2008. It opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on December 12, 2008. On the big day in Chester Cathedral, the Duke is godfather to Prince George, who may also be a page boy. When Harry appeared via video last week, he might imitate his attendance at the Diana Legacy Awards.
