Jesse Klaver Life

Jesse Feras Klaver (born 1 May 1986) is a Dutch politician who has served as a member of the House of Representatives since 2010 and as the head of GroenLinks since 2015.

He chaired the Christelijk Nationaal Vainbond's youth union from 2009 to 2010.

Early life

Jesse Feras Klaver was born in Roosendaal on May 1, 1986. His father has a Riffian-Moroccan origin, and his mother has a mixed Dutch and Indonesian background. He grew up in a social housing project in the absence of his father's presence. His grandparents had a large part in his upbringing. He served as the vmbo at Prinsenbeek's Waldorf school Michael College between 1999 and 2004.

He served on the board of DWARS, GroenLinks' youth group, from 2006 to 2009. He was first secretary and then elected chair, and then he was duo-chair for organizational affairs. He endorsed Femke Halsema's "freedom-loving path" against the party's more communist elements. He studied social work at Avans University of Applied Sciences and the University of Amsterdam's transition program for master political science. He left the transition program before completing it.

He was elected chair of the CNV's youth union on September 17th. He announced that he would place less emphasis on the CNV's Christian character. He favors extending the retirement age to 67. He was appointed to the Social Economic Council on December 1, 2009. He was the youngest member of this council to serve for 23 years. He co-authored the 2010 GroenLinks election manifesto, as well as chairing the CNV youth union; he served on the board of the Christian Social Youth Congress and was a member of the Climate NGO Youth Copenhagen Coalition; and he was the founder of the climate NGO Youth Copenhagen Coalition.

Political career

Klaver was ranked seventh on the 2010 ballot list for the fifth time in 2010. GroenLinks received ten seats. Klaver was a spokesperson for social affairs, education, and sport. Higher education was the subject of his first address.

By political journalists, he was voted "political talent of the year" in 2010. Klaver led GroenLinks' campaign team and he came fourth on the list of GroenLinks' candidates for the 2012 election. As GroenLinks had exactly four seats, this was sufficient to be elected. In January 2013, his TEDtalk on Pauw & Witteman's late-night talk show Pauw & Witteman was selected as the best of five young politicians.

With Lutz Jacobi (PvdA) and Stientje van Veldhoven (D66), he co-authored the memo "Mooi Nederland" ("Beautiful Netherlands") in 2013 which set out to protect nature, the landscape, flora, and fauna. He authored a private member's bill in 2013 that sought to minimize food waste by transparency. He coauthored the essay "Kansen voor kinderen voor het vmbo" in 2014 ("Children Education Opportunities for Children").

In 2013, Klaver was recognized around the world for opposing tax evasion. Klaver co-authored the pact on the student assistance with the minister of Education Jet Bussemaker and VVD spokespersons, D66, PvdA. He attended the inauguration of King Willem Alexander and took the oath "Zo Waarlijk help me almachtig."

Bram van Ojik, the party's leader, declared on May 12, 2015, that Klaver will take over the party's leadership effective immediately. Until then, Klaver had served as a spokesperson for finance, agriculture, nature, animal welfare, education, culture, and science. He is a member of parliamentary committees on foreign affairs, defence, European affairs, education, financial control, budgetary control, health, and procedural affairs.

During the Dutch general election of 2017, Klaver maintained his position as the head of GroenLinks. In the 2021 election, his party gained 10 seats, gaining to an all-time record of 14, but it fell to 8.

He was nominated in 2018 as a European Young Leader (EYL40), thanks to his political work (EYL40).
