Jerome Boateng Life

Jérôme Agyenim Boateng (born 3 September 1988) is a German professional footballer who plays for Bayern Munich and the German national team. Boateng began his career at Hertha BSC, where he went from youth to the main team.

He arrived at Hamburger SV and established himself as a key figure in the team's success, helping Hamburg reach the UEFA Europa League semi-finals for the second straight season.

He began playing in England with Manchester City in 2011 and has since gained domestic and European recognition for the club, most notably the continental treble in 2012-13. Boateng played for the Germany under-21 team, which gained the 2009 Euro U-21 Championship and then was promoted to the national team shortly.

Boateng has since earned over 70 caps and starred Germany at UEFA Euro 2012, Euro 2016, 2014 World Cup, and the 2018 World Cup.

He was a key contributor to his country's triumph in the 2014 World Cup.

He is Kevin-Prince Boateng's younger half-brother.

Personal life

Boateng, a Ghanaian German, was born in Berlin to a German mother named Martina Boateng and a Ghanaian father. He is Kevin-Prince Boateng's younger, paternal half-brother. George, his older brother, played for the youth at Hertha BSC but not become a professional player, has a sister who also played for the youth team but not become a professional footballer.

Boateng had a long-term friendship with Sherin Senler, with whom he has twin daughters. The pair had been apart for a few years, but they reunited in November 2013 to just have an on-off friendship. Boateng is accused of having an affair with model Gina Lohfink, which neither Boateng and Lohfink have denied. In 2015, he had a son.

In 2019, Boateng began a friendship with Polish-born model Kasia Lenhardt. Boateng revealed in February 2021 that the two were separating after Lenhardt crashed Boateng's Mini Cooper and was charged with driving under the influence. Boateng accused the model of sabotaging a previous marriage and blackmailing him to remain with her had already sour. Lenhardt was discovered dead in a Berliner apartment on Tuesday, one week after the apparent breakdown, with investigators suspecting the cause of death to be suicide. Boateng, who was in Qatar playing in the FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern Munich at the time, was then revealed to have left the country due to personal reasons.

Boateng was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Sherin Senler, while on vacation in the Caribbean in 2021 and fined €1.8 million (£1.5 million). The Munich District Court ruled the worst possible financial damages for the domestic violence conviction against Boateng, who had denied the charges of assault.

Rebecca Silvera, a longtime off/on again girlfriend, is engaged to boateng.

In the AWD-Arena's week 19 of the 2006–07 Bundesliga season, he made his debut against Hannover 96. Despite being just 18 years old, he became a regular on the first team. He made 11 appearances for the first team during the 2006–07 season.

In the summer of 2007, Boateng was partnered with a transfer to Hamburger SV. Boateng did not want to sign a five-year professional deal with Hertha as a result of this, according to the German media.

Boateng moved to Hamburg on August 22, 2007, for a fee estimated to be around €1.1 million. Boateng spent two years at Hamburg, where he would continue to play a vital part of the team's defense in the 2008–09 season, as well as reaching the UEFA Europa League semi-finals in both his time at the club. He made 37 appearances in 2007-08 during the 2007-08 season. During the 2008-2009 season, 35 appearances were made. Boateng's transfer to the English club for £10.4 million on a five-year contract was confirmed by the English Premier League club on Friday, where he wore his favored number 17 shirt. For the first half, he made his City debut against Valencia, alternating between center-back and right-back with Micah Richards. Gareth Barry scored on a spectacular run down the right flank, and he was aided in his assist with the assisting cross.

During a friendly against Denmark this week, Boateng suffered an injury setback while on international service with Germany during the 2010-11 Premier League season. He tore a tendon in his left knee, which was then exacerbated on the plane home after a collision with a drinks trolley.

During a 1–0 win over Chelsea on September 25, he made his Manchester City debut with a replacement appearance. He got off to a good start in a 1-1 Europa League draw with Juventus, playing at right-back. Boateng made 24 appearances in his first season with City. Despite not being a member of the matchday squad for the final, he also won the 2010–11 FA Cup.

Boateng expressed his desire to leave Manchester City for Bayern Munich in June 2011, claiming that playing for Bayern will improve his chances of playing regularly for the German national team and that being compelled to play almost exclusively at right-back.

Boateng's transfer to the German club was confirmed on July 14, 2011, as part of a four-year contract. He was given the same number 17 shirt he wore at Manchester City and the bulk of his time with Hamburg. During the 2011 Audi Cup in a match against Milan, he made his debut on July 27th as a second-half replacement for Rafinha. Bayern's debut in Germany came against Borussia Mönchengladbach on August 6th; an error by himself and fellow new signing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer allowed Igor de Camargo to score the only goal. Boateng and the team finished the season as runners-up in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League, with Boateng taking the finals of the last two tournaments in their entirety. During the 2011–12 season, he made 48 appearances.

Boateng was a regular member of the Bayern team that won a treble of the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League, in lieu of the DFL-Supercup at the start of the season. Boateng received a red card against BATE Borisov on December 5, resulting in a two-match suspension. On 9 March 2013, the winner of Bayern's 3–2 home win over Fortuna Düsseldorf scored his first Bundesliga goal with a header from Phillip Lahm's cross. He scored a second on April 13th, an acrobatic half-volley to begin a 5–0 home victory over 1. FC Nürnberg had already won the league title before winning the competition. During the 2012–2013 season, he scored two goals in 40 appearances.

Boateng received a red card against former club Manchester City on October 2, resulting in a one-match ban in the Champions League. He scored on 9 November, his first league goal of the season, turning around after a 4:0 home win over FC Augsburg. On December 11, he extended his deal with Bayern, which will keep him at the club until 2020. Boateng received a red card on May 3rd, resulting in a two-match suspension. Bayern emerged winners of a domestic double-over-Pokal and a Bundesliga double-Pokal last season. In 43 appearances during the 2013–14 season, he scored a goal in 43 games.

Boateng scored his first European goal for Bayern in the 2014-15 Champions League season, scoring his first goal in the first group stage match against his former club Manchester City on September 17, 2014. On February 3, 2015, Boateng received a red card against Schalke 04, resulting in a three-match suspension in the Bundesliga.

Boateng won by 7–0 Champions League round of 16 against Shakhtar Donetsk on March 11, 2015, and the second in a 6–1 quarter-final victory over Porto on April 21. In 44 appearances, he scored three goals in the 2014–15 season.

Boateng began the 2015–16 season by participating in the German Super Cup. On August 22, 2015, he scored a red card against 1899 Hoffenheim. Boateng signed a new deal with Bayern on December 18, extending his deal until 2021. With 31 appearances, he finished the 2015-16 season.

Boateng won by 3-1 over Eintracht Frankfurt on March 11, 2017, after 108 days as a replacement by a replacement. Boateng was disqualified from the away match against Bayer Leverkusen due to an adductor problem, according to head coach Carlo Ancelotti on April 14th. Boateng suffered from muscle injury and was suspended just after 11 minutes in the last match of the season against SC Freiburg, where he came back on May 20th. He made 21 appearances in the 2016–17 season.

Boateng made his comeback after 115 days on the sidelines in the Champions League match, with one assist to Joshua Kimmich's late goal after being subbed out in a 3–0 win over Anderlecht. He had two goals in 31 appearances in the 2017-18 season.

Boateng completed the season injury free and started the season strong, playing every minute of Bayern's first three Bundesliga games. Boateng was rotated with Bayern's other two center-backs, Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle, during the first half of the season. Boateng, who was not in the starting lineup, was forced to change to Hummels and Süle as Bayern's coach, Niko Kova, decided that Hummels and Süle were his first options. Boateng was linked to other clubs after being reported to be dissatisfied with his Bayern work.

Boateng won his seventh consecutive Bundesliga title on May 18th as Bayern finished two points above Dortmund with 78 points. Bayern defeated RB Leipzig 3–0 in the 2019 DFB-Pokal Final a week later, Boateng won his fourth DFB-Pokal. Boateng did not appear in the match because he was an unused substitute. In 28 appearances, he did not win in the 2018-19 season.

Boateng made his 300th appearance for Bayern in a match against Werder Bremen on December 14th.

Boateng also recovered his position in the starting XI, often working with David Alaba after Niklas Süle sustained a long-term injury in October 2019 and Bayern's new signing Lucas Hernandez suffered from minor injuries. He recovered his form in this season and was a hit in his second continental treble.

In a 6–2 away victory over Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League on Sunday, Boateng scored his first goal of the season.

Boateng's deal came to an end in the summer and will not be renewed, according to Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzi.

International career

Boateng has competed for both the German under-17 and under-19 national teams. Coach Frank Engel called him up to the German Under-19 Championship, which took place in Austria from 16 July to 27 July.

Boateng has worked with the team in the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championships, and he has competed for Germany under the age of 21. On October 10, 2009, he made his German senior squad debut against Russia, becoming the first German international to be dismissed on his debut; he received his second booking in the second half. Despite the start of this shaky start, he was called up more often than ever.

Boateng was included in Joachim Löw's final 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Boateng played for Germany against his half-brother, Kevin-Prince, who represents Ghana, on June 23rd. Germany won by 1–0. It was the first time that two brothers competed against each other at the FIFA World Cup.

Boateng's second straight game as Germany defeated England 4–1, and Argentina 4–0 in the quarter-finals, as well as the 1–0 loss to Spain in the semi-finals.

In the third round match against Uruguay, Boateng was featured. He aided Germany in their second goal by Marcell Jansen, helping to win a third straight World Cup for the second time in a row.

Boateng was selected in Germany's 23-man squad for Euro 2012. As the country advanced to the semi-finals, he played right-back and appeared in four of their five matches, but was disqualified by Italy.

During the next World Cup, Boateng and his brother competed against each other for the fourth time. Boateng played the full match for Germany against Brazil on July 8th in a historic 7–1 semi-final loss to Brazil.

After defeating Argentina 1–0 in the final, Boateng won the 2014 World Cup with Germany on July 13th. He was instrumental in Germany's victory in the final, winning 83% of his battles and making several good tackles with teammate Mats Hummels, although only committing 1 foul during the entire 120 minutes. Several media outlets rated him as man of the match, but Mario Götze was the match's official man.

Boateng won by 2–0 in their first group stage match on June 13, 2016, despite a crucial goal-line clearance that denied Ukraine a goal. Boateng scored his first international goal in the round of 16 matches against Slovakia on June 26, 2016, a long-range volley that opened the scoring for the 3–0 victory. Boateng was forced to miss the second half of the semi-final match against France on July 8th as a result of a thigh muscle injury.

Boateng was selected in Joachim Löw's final 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on June 4, 2018. Boateng was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card in their second group stage match against Sweden on June 23, but Germany defeated the game with a 2–1 victory. He also became the first German player to be suspended in a World Cup match since Miroslav Klose's victory over Serbia in the 2010 World Cup. However, he was disqualified after Germany suffered a 0–2 loss to South Korea, effectively ending the tournament's participation of Germany.

Joachim Löw, the national team coach, and his club colleagues Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller announced on March 5 that they will not plan without Boateng for the foreseeable future.
