Simple Plan is a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec.

Since its inception in 1999, the band's line-up has included lead vocalist Pierre Bouvier, lead guitarist Jeff Stinco, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Sébastien Lefebvre, bassist and backing vocalist David Desrosiers, and drummer Chuck Comeau.

Five studio albums have been released: No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls (2006), Still Not Getting Any... (2004), Simple Plan (2008), Get Your Heart On! (2011) and Taking One for the Team (2016).

At the 2016 NHL Winter Classic, Simple Plan also performed.

1999–2001: Formation and early years

Lead singer Pierre Bouvier and drummer Chuck Comeau were in a band called Reset in 1993. Comeau left college soon after in 1998. Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre, both from high school and guitarists, met in mid-1999 when they were in separate bands of their own. They developed a Simple Plan. Bouvier and Comeau were first introduced to Sugar Ray in late 1999, and Bouvier left Reset shortly after to join Comeau in the band. In Reset, bassist and back vocalist David Desrosiers replaced Bouvier, but the band's drummer and backing singer David Desrosiers left the project six months later to join Simple Plan. Bouvier, who had doubled as lead vocalist and bassist, and Stinco, who had doubled as the band's lead guitarist and backing vocalist, were able to concentrate on the guitar. In 2001, the band appeared at Edgefest II in Toronto.

The band's name is uncertain. Band members have varied responses, including that the band was their "simple plan to avoid working at McDonald's" or other fast food restaurant franchises. The name may have been derived from the 1998 film and novel of the same name, however.

Simple Plan's debut studio album, "I'm Just a Kid," "I'd Do Anything," "Addicted," and "Perfect" appeared on Simple Plan's debut album, No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls. The band was going for a pure pop punk record.

The record was first introduced in the United States with 12 tracks, ending with "Perfect." Enhanced and international editions were released in a number of different styles, with up to two additional tracks in comparison to the original 12. On vocals, two pop punk singers performed:

"I'd Do Something" featured vocals by Mark Hoppus from Blink-182, and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte's "You Don't Mean Anything" contained vocals.

The band's time in 2002 and 2003 were particularly formative for the band. "Addicted" was featured on one of MTV's top-performing shows during the spring of 2003 in the United States and internationally; on MTV and MTVu; and MTVU, and MTV U.S.; and MTV and MTVu; The Fraternity Life theme song was also added to the list. Although the show was taken off the air for the following season, the band continued to grow on billboard charts in the United States, and shows continued to be sold and reruns of the show have been staged around the world.

What's New, Scooby-Doo? In 2002, the band also performed and recorded the theme song for a resurgent version of the Scooby-Doo franchise. During its entire run until its conclusion in 2006, this show used the band's intro throughout its entire run until its conclusion. Several of the band's songs were also included in episodes of the show, including "I'd Do Anything."

The band appeared on the Vans Warped Tour in 2003, an appearance in the comedy slasher film Punk Rock Holocaust, in which four of the five band members were killed. In 2004, and 2005, the band appeared on the Warped Tour for a short time. On her "Want Me Up" tour in 2003, Avril Lavigne's first appearance on her "To Shut Me Up" tour opened. In addition to several headlining tours, the band has performed for Green Day and Good Charlotte. The album had sold one million copies in early 2003 and then went on to sell over four million copies around the world, making it the band's highest-selling album to date.

Simple Plan released Still Not Getting Any..., Bob Rock's second album, "Welcome to My Life," and "Untitled" on the back-up. (How Could This Happen to Me?) ),"Crazy," and (in some countries) "Perfect World" and "Perfect World."

According to the album's bonus DVD, the band experimented with Get Rich or Die Trying, Enema of the State, and In The Zone before deciding on Still Not Getting Any More. Bouvier once boasting that the band had one good review in Alternative Press stemmed from the band's assumption that they were not getting any good feedback. Not Getting Any... was a musical departure from the band's previous album: the band retained its downbeat lyrics matched to upbeat beat pop punk, but the band managed to move beyond the generic pop punk style. Despite the fact that many of the tracks on this CD evoked the sensation of teen anxiety that is certainly more noticeable in "I'm Just a Kid" from No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls, the general slant of this album tends to marginally older and more mature lyrical themes, as well as a more mainstream sound that moves away from the group's more traditional pop punk style. Several commentators have argued that the album should feature "classic" or "mainstream" rock elements, implying that the album "de-emphas punk-pop hyperactivity in favour of straightforward, well-crafted modern rock.

In 2005, their cover version of Cheap Trick's "Surrender" was included in the movie's soundtrack album, Fantastic Four.

In version 97 of the xkcd webcomic A Simple Plan, Lyrics from "Welcome to My Life" are included.

The band stopped touring in February 2006 after nearly a year and a half in favour of Still Not Getting Anybody. They were only performing a few shows, taking some time off, and starting to work on their third studio album. Bouvier came from Miami on about 21 March 2007 to work with Dave Fortman. On June 29, the band opened in Los Angeles for pre-production. The band returned to Montréal on July 15th to record at Studio Piccolo, the same studio in which the band had recorded Still Not Getting Any. After finishing recording and heading back to Miami and Los Angeles to mix the record, the band resurfaced. The final part of the record breaking feat was completed in New York City, and it was officially closed on October 21.

On October 29, I'm Gone, Simple Plan's first single, was released. Both Dave Fortman and Max Martin produced this album. The band's debut on February 17, 2008, when the first two albums only cracked the UK top 40, "When I'm Gone" brought the band the band's highest chart position in the United Kingdom, coming in at number 26.
