Dave Baksh Life

David Nizam Baksh (born July 26, 1980), also known by his stage name Dave Brownsound, is a Canadian musician, singer, guitarist, and record producer best known as one of Sum 41's guitarists.

Baksh took a nine-year absence from Sum 41, beginning in May 2006 (except for a brief return in 2008).

During this period, he was a drummer and guitarist with his own heavy metal/reggae band, Brown Brigade.

He also plays guitar for Organ Thieves, alongside two of his fellow Brown Brigade members and the Canadian deathpunk four-piece Black Cat Attack.

Early life

Baksh, along with Sum 41 bandmates Jason McCaslin and Steve Jocz, are from Ajax, Ontario. Indo-Guyanese is his ancestry. Baksh revealed in 2019 that he was a fan of Newcastle United's English Premier League club Newcastle United.

Dave Baksh Career

Career

Baksh joined Sum 41 as the third member in 1997, after Deryck Whibley and Steve Jocz formed the band in 1996. Baksh provided backing vocals in addition to being the lead guitarist. Baksh went by Pleasure in Sum 41's alter-ego group, Pain for Pleasure. The name Eddie Van Halen coined for his own guitar tone, as well as "Dave Brownsound" and "Hot Chocolate," playing off his Indian roots and brown sound. "Mr. Amsterdam," "Machine Gun," "Pain for Pleasure," and "The Bitter End" are among his favorite Sum 41 songs, and "Pieces" is his least favorite to perform with the band.

Sum 41 performed at the Alternative Press Music Awards on July 23, 2015, featuring DMC and Baksh himself as guests. Baksh had officially returned to Sum 41, and would appear on the band's sixth studio album on August 14, 2015. On October 7, 2016, the resulting album 13 Voices was released.

Baksh admitted in 2019 during an interview with Loudwire that he regretted leaving the band after learning of the band's fifth album, Screaming Bloody Murder.

Baksh revealed in a letter sent by his administration company that he was leaving Sum 41 for personal reasons on May 11, 2006. He explained that he could not continue trying to express himself through guitar skills without being a pain to the band. He decided he wanted to move on from Sum 41 to Brown Brigade, his new band formed with his cousin Vaughn Lal and with whom he currently plays lead guitar during the post-Chuck hiatus.

Brown Brigade's debut album Into the Mouth of Badd(d)ness was released in September 18, 2007, in Canada and Japan, and it hasn't been widely distributed in the United States and has yet to tour Canada in support of the album.

Baksh announced that the band is currently working on new and experimental songs that would be released for free on the band's website. The new songs, rather than the band's traditional music, will feature a variety of genres, including punk rock, funk, and reggae, but not like the debut album.

Baksh, a member of Sum 41, was born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 27, 2008. Baksh performed "Pain for Pleasure" at the end of the performance. Some believed this was a hint at him returning to the band, but Deryck Whibley said Baksh's appearance was a one-off event and that he would continue with Brown Brigade.

Baksh announced on the Brown Brigade's Myspace page on September 12, 2008 that he would no longer perform for the band but would remain as the lead guitarist. The band was looking for a new lead singer to work on new material. Baksh revealed on November 27, 2009, that due to his cousin Vaughn Lal's participation in his company, the group planned to keep Brown Brigade strictly a studio act, with single songs and collaborating in the studio with many different artists, with a small chance of performing live. Organ Thieves and Vaughn's primary concern will be his new venture, according to Baksh's chief.

Baksh's new project Organ Thieves began in mid-2008 and was produced by his fellow Brown Brigade member Chuck Coles. Coles had requested Baksh to appear at a few live shows in November 2008, resulting in Baksh's joining the band as a full member. In January 2009, he produced the band's first EP, God's Favorite Sons. The EP was released for free on the band's Myspace page and later in March 2009, and it was also available in physical format. Baksh also joined Canadian hardcore punk outfit Blackjacket for a short UK tour in the same month.

Organ Thieves' first full-length studio album was released in October 2009 by Greig Nori, a long-time Sum 41 producer/manager. Since Baksh intends to keep Brown Brigade strictly a studio act, Organ Thieves has since become Baksh's biggest concern.

MapleMusic Recordings released Somewhere Between Free Men and Slaves, their first full-length studio album, on April 24, 2012.
