Beyonce brought on rare emotion and tears as she thanked her husband, children, and late gay uncle as she broke the all time record for most awards at the Grammy Awards after arriving fashionably late. The 41-year-old A-lister had lost previous titles and even the celebrity-studded red carpet, but she didn't miss the monumental moment in Los Angeles, California, where she claimed her 32nd gold gramophone trophy. "Thank you so much," she said as she tried to put an end to her tears. I'm trying not to be too emotional. And I'm only trying to get this evening. I want to thank god for shielding me from harm. God bless you. I'd like to thank my uncle Johnny, who isn't here.'

If it isn't triggered by Beyoncé, the 2023 Grammys conversation seems to be just incomplete or willfully delusional. The mega-star is at the forefront of this year's nominations, totaling nine, but it's the story surrounding her appearance on the show (and this one in particular) that's the driving force throughout the season. Fans have been pining for a rematch after Adele's 25 beat out Bey's Lemonade at the 2017 show. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Grammy season, but it doesn't seem quite right. Bey's Renaissance is so much bigger than a pop album; it's a history lesson in Black and electronic music that doesn't sound like (and isn't) a party. Who wouldn’t be in the corner of an album like that?

Paramore Returns, Aly & AJ Bring Vibes, And More At Austin City Limits

www.mtv.com, October 11, 2022
A lot has been said of Austin, Texas, dubbing it the "Live Music Capital of the World," but it lived up to its name during the first weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which took place on Friday (October 7) to Sunday (October 9). There were tunes blasting out of car windows, country crooners performing on the patios of restaurants, DIY rappers standing up on the streets, and a variety of genres arising from Zilker Park, where the festival sprawled out across eight stages. Nearly 75,000 people attended one of the most diverse lineups in recent memory, including Lil Nas X, P!nk, SZA, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Kacey Musgraves. The most delectable part of ACL had to be the huge barbecue Pitmasters tent and its surrounding aromas, marking the first time that the festival had dedicated so much territory to barbecuing. The soaring aroma of sizzling meats was matched only by the Texas sun as festival goers braved 89-degree weather to see their favorite performers, many of whom shared the same sentiment: "It's fucking hot." Here's a look at everything that went wrong over the weekend.

More Slam Roe V. Wade Ruling at the BET Awards, Janelle Monáe, Jazmine Sullivan, and More

www.mtv.com, June 27, 2022
The BET Awards on Sunday night (June 26) marked a celebration of Black artists' contribution, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, and Kendrick Lamar's. Many creatives also had a platform to protest the Supreme Court's decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, the historic 1973 ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion. Lizzo opened the show with a rendition of her new album "About Damn Time," bringing along her flute for a rousing solo that has become a signature of her live performances. Taraji P. Henson, the Oscar-nominated actress who appeared for the second year in a row, lauded Black entertainers in their opening address. Referring to SCOTUS's decision on permitting open firearms carrying in public, she referred to the song's name to protest the stripping of human rights and favoring guns.

Doja Cat and Swae Lee are unable to participate in new songs from the "Elvis" Soundtrack

www.popsugar.co.uk, June 6, 2022
A new song from Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" soundtrack, Diplo and Swae Lee, has been released. The pair dropped "Tupelo Shuffle" on June 3, starring Gary Clark, Jr. and Austin Butler, who plays Elvis in the film. "Tupelo Shuffle" was released the day after Doja Cat released "Vegas," which remixes Elvis' "Hound Dog" and features a snapshot of Big Mama Thornton's original 1953 recording. On June 24, the full soundtrack will be released in theaters. As for the film itself, there's already a lot of buzz surrounding "Elvis" and its star-studded cast, including Austin Butler as the titular star and Tom Hanks as the mysterious manager. Of course, Elvis wouldn't be Elvis without the music, and a Baz Luhrmann film without a unique soundtrack would not be a Baz Luhrmann film. The list of artists on the film's soundtrack debuted on May 23, and by the looks of it, it will be a unique blend of genres and time periods. It's also a very loose group of musicians that don't appear to be closely related at first glance.

They often leave a lingering question: Are these songs really good, or are they just new? Enter Bop Shop, a hand-picked collection of songs from MTV News' staff. This weekly collection doesn't discriminate by genre and can include anything; it's a glimpse at what's on our minds and what looks good. We'll keep it fresh with the new music, but we'll still get a few oldies (but goodies) every once in a while. Get ready: The Bop Shop is now open for business.
