Born Jon Thomas Terrell, 1948 – August 24, 2017) was an American actor, comedian, and radio presenter.
He appeared on Top 40X, 1979-79, later on Rhythmic CHR station WKTU, and, later on KPWR "Power 106," where he hosted the station's top-rated morning show until 1993.
His notable television appearances included Remo DaVinci on Mork & Mindy (1979–83), Eddie LeBec's recurring role on Cheers (1992–95), and a repeat guest appearance as Jerry Gold, a Boston Bruins goalie on Murphy Brown's title character, who is both an antagonist and lover of the title character.
In 1990 and 1991, he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for portraying Gold. He appeared in Killing Mr. Griffin, a television film based on the eponymous book, in 1997.
In film, he co-starred in Mr. Holland's Opus as a high school coach with a flair for the dramatics, as well as portraying the Easter Bunny.
During the holiday season, he appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, where he shared a tale about how he met Clayton Moore, who portrayed the title character on The Lone Ranger.

Early life and education
Thomas was born in Kermit, Texas, to Katharine (née Guzzino) and Timothy Harry Terrell. He was raised in his Italian mother's Catholic faith; his father, who was Protestant, was Catholic. Thomas was born in New Orleans, where he attended and graduated from Jesuit High School. He continued to attend and graduate from Jacksonville University. Thomas played quarterback on his high-school football team and quarterbacked in college, as well as quarterback on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Personal life
J. T. Harding, Thomas' father, was involved in an out-of-wedlock marriage, and another family in Michigan adopted the child. On the Dr. Phil Show, Thomas and his son talked about their reunion. Harding, the lead singer of JTX and a country-music songwriter, is a writer for the band JTX.
In 1987, Thomas married Sally Michelson. Samuel and Jacob, their two sons, were born.
