Jane Kennedy Career

Career

While working on Melbourne commercial radio on the D-Generation Breakfast Show, she met the others of the group, including Tom Gleisner, Rob Sitch, Santo Cilauro, Mick Molloy, and Jason Stephens. Kennedy was not the original member of the company, but the newsreader was assigned to work with them during their timeslot. As she read the news, the team made a game of trying to make her laugh when she was reading the news. Kennedy's frequent success led to her joining the D-Generation as a full-time member, and she continued to work with them on the radio show. The group stayed together to produce The Late Show, a comedy sketch show on television current affairs in which she played passionate journalist Brooke Vandenberg, and Funky Squad, a retro styled spoof 70s police dramas.

Kennedy has mainly worked behind the camera for various Working Dog productions, including their panel talk show The Panel and The Dish, since the mid-1990s.

Kennedy appeared on radio show Get This Sometimes, and on television chat show The Circle, he has appeared as a semi-regular panelist.

Kennedy wrote her first book, Fabulous Food Minus the Boombah, in 2009. OMG, she's second cookbook, came out in 2010.

I Can Eat That?

She has since published two other cookbooks, One Dish Two Ways and The Big Book of Fabulous Food.

With her longtime comedy colleague Mick Molloy, she co-hosted Kennedy Molloy, a national drive show on Triple M from 2017 to 2020. Kennedy resigned from Triple M in January 2021 to dedicate more time to her family.

Tell them they're dreamin': Online critics link Australia's housing crisis to the classic Aussie comedy The Castle

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 13, 2024
It's the classic Australian comedy about battlers taking on the system - and winning. But hit film The Castle, first released in 1997, appears to have some online users up in arms. In a bizarre twist, critics of the film have linked its plot about a blue collar family trying to save their home from being acquired by developers to Australia's current housing crisis.

How to remain in the "holiday home" made popular in the classic Aussie film The Castle

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 4, 2024
An enterprising Airbnb host has turned the 'holiday home' used in the film into a holiday destination. The modest three-bedroom cottage, which is 168 kilometers from Melbourne, has been restored to look just as it did in the 1997 film. Retro furniture and accessories that recall the 1970s throwback period of the now famous Australian comedy classic are among the highlights.

Neil Mitchell resigned as the king of Melbourne radio on his own terms. When he was abruptly dismissed from the cast of classic 1990s comedy Frontline, it was a very different story

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 1, 2023
In the first season of Frontline, the ABC parody of television current affairs journalism in the mid 1990s, the outgoing 3AW morning host appeared as himself. Mitchell was a regular participant in the news of the day with Frontline's self-absorbed and dimwitted host Mike Moore, played by Rob Sitch, on his 3AW morning show (main). But when Mitchell sluggishly slammed producer Working Dog's new show Funky Squad on television, they fired him. 'Mindy, my bill for the entire series was one bottle of whisky, and I don't drink whisky,' he told Daily Mail Australia.
