Career
Hill joined BBC Radio 5 Live at the station's launch, remaining as a producer for 18 months after completing the BBC journalism training course. Following the completion of the BBC Regional News Trainee Scheme, she went into television. She then went to BBC Radio Berkshire and South Today as a host before heading to national radio later this year.
Hill joined BBC News in November 1997 and spent the first 24 hours as a presenter on the channel's international counterpart BBC World News during the simulcast between the two channels. She has covered a variety of news and events during her time with BBC News, including a week of special programs from Washington, DC, following the September 2001 terrorist attacks. She continued to present live coverage of the first anniversary commemorations at Ground Zero in New York City on BBC News and BBC World News.
During the war in Iraq, she appeared on BBC One and BBC Two, and BBC World News in December 2003, on the day US forces captured Saddam Hussein, she broadcast for almost eight hours a day on both terrestrial channels, BBC News, and BBC World News.
In 2007, Hill was responsible for the BBC's coverage of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
