Jandino Asporaat Life

Jandino Asporaat (born January 9, 1981) is a Curaçaoan-Dutch stand-up comedian, actor, editor, and voice actor.

Early life

Asporaat was born in Willemstad, Curaçao, where he and his mother, three brothers, and sister grew up in the Buena Vista neighborhood together. His father died on the island with a different woman and received no alimony. He and his family migrated to the Netherlands in 1992, settling in Rotterdam, South Holland, where his oldest brother stayed on Curaçao. Asporaat pretended he was a painter before deciding on a career in stand-up comedy after completing his studies.

Personal life

Shirley, Asporaat's childhood sweetheart, married in 2013. They have two children together and live in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel.

Asporaat is also a well-known supporter of Dutch association football club Feyenoord from Rotterdam.

Career

Asporaat began his career in comedy in 2002 with the Rotterdam-based theatre company 'Young Stage,' where he spent two seasons. He appeared in a variety of Dutch theater companies, including the Ro-theater, Waterhuis, and Rotjong. In films including Deuce Bigalow and Staatsgevaarlijk, as well as in television commercials, he made several television appearances, including The Comedy Factory in 2007.

Asporaat is also a writer and photographer outside of his work as a stand-up comedian. As a writer, he has had his work published in de Volkskrant and the NTR program 'Raymann is Laat'. Asporaat opened his own clothing store in downtown Delft, South Holland, on November 1st. He unveiled his first self-produced full-length film "Bon Bini Holland" on December 10, 2015, for which he received the "Golden film" award at the Dutch Golden and Platin Film awards ceremony. In July 2016, he appeared in "The Secret Life of Pets" in the Netherlands.

On BNN, Asporaat appeared in the television show De Lama's in May 2007. He was invited by NPS' TV Lab team in 2009 to produce a TV plot in association with the production company Men at Work for the forthcoming television series "Comedy at Work." He was joined by Sergio IJssel (from Flikken Maastricht), Shula Felomina (theatercomedy), and Alpha Oumar Barry (from Kwasi & Kwame) where they unveiled refreshed Dutch television shows.

Comedy at Work returned to Dutch television in July 2011, this time on NTR / Nederland 3. "Hulp, mijn man is John Williams," "Meisje, ik ben boos," and "De Nanny" returned once more, with comedies, sketches, and a new name "De Dino Exhibition." In 2013, the show was nominated for a Golden Rose (Rose d'Or) award at the annual European festival for amusement television.

Asporaat was made a permanent panel member of RTL 4's "Wie ben ik" in 2013 and 2014. Since 2014, he has been hosting "Alles mag op zaterdag." He has also hosted "Playback, je gek!" from Chantal Janzen and the Dutch version of the U.K. television show "Dance, dance, dance" together with Chantal Janzen. Both RTL 4 and VTL4 have been on RTL since 2015. He has also hosted "DINO," a spin-off of NTR's most popular "The Dino show," since November 2015. He co-hosted the show "Alles mag op zaterdag" with Gordon and Gerard Joling, starting on March 12, 2016.

He appeared in the finals of the cabaret festival Cameretten in 2005. Despite placing in second place, he was given the personality award. "Antilliaanse Pot" was his first full length theater performance in which he was narrating was also available on DVD. On the island of Curaçao, Asporaat reflects on his youth years and growing up. His second film was also released on DVD and was shown on Dutch television on channel Nederland 3's Dutch television. In 2011, his third full film "Laat ze maar komen" was released.

Roué Verveer, Murth Mossel, and Howard Komproe began his collaborative tour with Roué Verveer, Murth Mossel, and Howard Komproe around the same time as his National theater performances. During the Winter months of 2010 and 2011, the comedy troupe, the Caribbean Combo, toured the Netherlands, Suriname, and the Dutch Caribbean islands. He became the first cabaret artist to appear at the newly opened Rotterdam Ahoy on June 7, 2014.
