The Geoffrey Stunt family, James Stunt, and his father, Geoffrey Stunt, were embroiled in a legal dispute over James' bankruptcy over Sir Anthony Van Dyck's painting, The Chee Sisters, between the two brothers. Barristers for the trustees said James Stunt owned the portrait at a court in London earlier in March, but barristers for the trustees insisted that Geoffrey bought the work in 2013 for £600,000. In a decision released on Friday, Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Clive Jones dismissed the Stunts' allegations by finding that the painting should be regarded as belonging to James Stunt for the purposes of his bankruptcy. Mr James Stunt was the contracting purchaser,' he said, 'in my balance of probabilities.'
