Amateur career

He captured the Light Heavyweight title at the 2011 Junior World Championships and qualified for the 2012 Olympics as a heavyweight, making him the youngest ever Australian Olympic boxer.

In July 2011, Ocasia captured the Junior World Championship in Kazakhstan.

He had a difficult final against New Zealander David Light at the Olympic qualifier in Canberra, but won by 15:10.

In 2012, Omana won bronze medal at the AIBA World Youth Championships in the heavyweight division. Osakaia had won the 2012 Olympics later this year, but did not advance to the first round of the tournament.

Professional career

On July 15, 2017, Oman was supposed to face Daniel Ammann for the vacant WBC-OPBF and Australian cruiserweight titles. He won the fight by a ninth-round technical knockout. On October 21, 2017, Ocasia was due to face Frankie Lopez for the vacant IBF Youth cruiserweight crown. He was beaten in the first round by a technical knockout.

On January 17, 2018, Oolaia's first Australian Cruiserweight championship defense against Benjamin Kelleher was the first to be successful. He won the fight by a third-round technical knockout. On April 7, 2018, Olegaia won yet another regional title, as he was set to face Lukas Paszkowsky for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific cruiserweight title. He won the fight by a technical knockout in the second round. On June 29, 2018, Occupasia defeated Kurtis Pegoraro in his first WBO Asia-Pacific cruiserweight championship defense. The competition was essentially a contest for the vacant IBF Pan-Pacific cruiserweight title. He won the fight by a second-round knockout.

On May 15, 2019, Ooata defeated Navosa Ioata for the vacant WBA Oceania interim cruiserweight title, defeating the fight by an eight-round technical knockout. While still fighting for the vacant WBO Global cruiserweight crown, Ooaia made his first title defense against Nikolas Charalampous on July 27, 2019. He won the fight by a unanimous decision. Opaia claimed the first defense of these two titles and fought for the inaugural IBF Asia-Oceania cruiserweight title against Mark Flanagan on November 16, 2019. He won the fight by an eight-round technical knockout.

In a rematch with Benjamin Kelleher on October 22, 2020, Otaia was due to defend his IBF Asia-Oceania and WBO Global cruiserweight titles. He was defeated in the sixth round by a technical knockout.

On April 20, 2022, Oataia was scheduled to face reigning IBF and The Ring cruiserweight champion Mairis Briedis. On February 16, the match was postponed until Briedis was positive for COVID-19. The bout had been postponed until 11 May, and it was scheduled to take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia. On April 8, the fight was postponed again as Octagon Orion suffered a rib injury and was rescheduled for July 2. With scores of 116–112 and 115–113, Otaia prevailed in the match by unanimous vote. Occupation Andrew's jaw was broken in two places during the war. Because he was unable to attend a match, he was instead taken directly to the hospital to repair the fractures.
