Jack Casady Life

Born April 13, 1944, John William Casady (born April 13, 1944) is an American bass guitarist best known as a member of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna.

The Jefferson Airplane was the first to be a fan of the San Francisco Sound.

Their singles, including "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," had a more polished look to their other work, and they were charted in 1967 and 1968.

In 1996, Casady and the other members of Jefferson Airplane were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Early life

Casady was born in Washington, D.C., the son of Mary Virginia (née Quimby) and William Robert Casady. His father was of half-Irish Protestant and half Polish Jews of origins. His mother was a descendent of aviator Harriet Quimby; some of her relatives had lived in North America since the 1600s.

He began playing bass in the Washington, D.C. area, and after that time (and with a forged I.D.) he began underage. I grew up in Washington, D.C., and was a fan of artists such as Little Anthony and the Imperials.
